In 1993 Labour leader, John Smith, condemned rail privatisation at his last Labour conference. In 2004 Labour conference overwhelmingly supported bringing rail back into public ownership as the franchises ended. New Labour refused. Tonight I voted for a Bill to do just that.

For the past few years my wife and I have each received a winter fuel allowance. This has been very welcome but not essential. What is essential is an efficient NHS when I need it, appropriate care when the time comes and adequate housing opportunities for our (grand)children.
