Do you have #FND that affects your communication? Able to travel to the University of Technology Sydney to take part in a pilot research project looking at the use of VR in treatment of FND? Then we'd love to hear from you! redcap.link/4e76y6z

Had the pleasure of being involved in a UTS Speech podcast about #gender-affirming #voice training. It contains some great snippets from people with lived experience. Just ignore my asthmatic breathing from running to the studio and climbing the stairs 🤣 omny.fm/shows/whats-got-us-t…

What causes Functional Neurological Disorder? 🤷 The exact cause is unknown. In the most recent fMRI studies, patients with FND showed decreased functional connectivity in some parts of the brain compared to their healthy counterparts. Learn more 👉bit.ly/40LcUVd

This is brilliant and I’d love to see much more of this coming from the medical community. Yes, FND can be linked to mental health BUT it can also be linked to other factors, such as predisposing medical conditions, and many more!
Is there a link between Functional Neurological Disorder and mental health conditions? #FND #FNDTwitter

If you're a medical professional & want to understand #FND don't bother with Freud & his one sided theories. The future lies in a non dualistic leading edge neuroscience, based on Bayesian predictive models of the brain- definitely more exciting than dreary old Freud

Presented findings from our #voice activated #VR use in #gender_affirming training pilot study @LSA_Laryngology Participants loved it and believed it would motivate them to practice more. Just need to find a VR game designer now and the #funding to co-design a customized game!

#FND is a real disorder that fascinates me. Despite all the progress in recent years in understanding this debilitating disorder, we still have much to learn. I recently recorded a podcast on the topic of #FND and the need to drop the #psychogenic label for @speechuncensored.
