Because college basketball was better when the sidelines still had some style.

Only plausible explanation is that there’s no more suits on the sidelines. Basketball just felt better

This tweet should be mandatory literature for every new college hoops coaching hire.
Normalize always being the best-dressed man, no matter the occasion.

Surely this is the biggest Indianapolis headline of the day.
The NCAA has selected the following seven cities as finalists to host the Men's Final Four from 2032-36, per release. Denver Houston Indianapolis Kansas City Las Vegas Nashville New Orleans

Today is my all-time low as a Colts fan. The Quenton Nelson trade means this franchise officially wasted 9 years a historically great career. Indy didn't deserve Q any more than quarter zip coaches deserve final four runs. Thank you for your attention to this off brand matter.

Every time a quarter zip coach retires, an angel gets its wings. Good riddance, Dana Altman.

They should be sanctioned for this
UNC is gonna replace Hubert Davis with some sweatsuit wearing subpar coach, aren’t they.

With all these bs eligibility injunctions, can we get a court order to make every college hoops coach dress like this again?

Team USA lost tonight because their coach wasn’t in a suit. Learn from college hoops. Well dressed coaches win games.

Exactly 125 days until you get to see Rick Pitino patrolling the sidelines in a suit again.

All this and we still can’t get coaches in suits on the sidelines
Has 2026 been the craziest sports year of our lifetime?

Nice to see Darian Devries can wear a sport coat to a media night at a winery but not on the sidelines for a game. Quarter zips killed basketball.

My advice for teams who get those coveted top four picks in the lottery today: don’t draft a kid unless his college coach wore suits. It’s fool proof

With college basketball moving away from suits, the NCAA should move the Final Four to Masters weekend every year. Winning coach can put on the Green Quarter Zip.

This is the golf equivalent of what’s happened to college basketball. You’re going to see untucked polos and t-shirts on the basketball sidelines soon
The Masters is losing its exclusivity and tradition every year, becoming filled with untucked-shirt, Good Good hat-wearing cornballs chasing merch and content with no respect for the game or its purist roots

I— it’s beautiful.
Final updates have been made to my attire tracker for every NCAA Tournament head coach: docs.google.com/spreadsheets… A quick thread of some key findings: @mid_madness

It’s honestly had such a significant impact on the aesthetics of basketball. Coaches wearing quarter zips gives such an informal and unimportant feeling to every game now
Only plausible explanation is that there’s no more suits on the sidelines. Basketball just felt better

Brilliant minds like this give me hope.

It should be mandatory for coaches to wear suits.

Quarter zips and polos are also a safety concern. They tend to throw chairs when there’s no jacket to throw…

I've said before that it was a great look and makes for great theatre when a coach gets mad and slings his jacket off. I don't see them ripping off their quarter zips Hulk Hogan style.
