Industry Minister Melanie Joly has again written to Stelco, telling them they have 15 days to reverse the layoffs in Hamilton or Ottawa will start legal action agains the company, in a letter obtained by Global News.
The letter has the exact text of the 2024 employment agreement between Ottawa and Stelco, the first time this has been made public.
"Cliffs will ensure that the average aggregate annual employment of bargaining unit employees at the Canadian Business will be no lower than 1,766, representing 100% of the average aggregate annual full time equivalent employment of the 12 months ending June 30, 2024."
