CMBB researchers model human gloss perception with unsupervised neural networks. The networks spontaneously learn to distinguish surfaces without explicit labels, and even reproduce quirks of human perception.

I published my first preprint! Happy to share this study, where we found that we could decode bistable perception from visual regions that were not directly stimulated (so no feedforward input), suggesting a role of predictive feedback signalling. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
