Planning my next steps from here. Any ideas, suggestions for dissemination or future projects? I'll be on maternity leave but I'd love to hear other people's experiences with publication strategies, collaboration, etc., so drop me a line here or by DM.
Very pleased to have received a copy of this outstanding PhD thesis by @ChAndersen01 in my box! This will make it easier to cite. :)
Passed with no corrections!!
A huge thank you to the authors out there who use the opening pages to acknowledge how long and winding the road from PhD thesis to book can be... 1/2
2020 was a year of full stops and stumbling starts for me. On days where the # of stops threaten to outnumber the # of starts, reminders that some of the academic book that I admire the most grew out of their own thicket of rewrites and relocations keep me going 🙌 2/2 #writing

WE HAVE HISTORY! Its all over folks! The election has been nullified and a re-run has been ordered. The Court followed through on its criticism of the elections. This is a far-reaching verdict with massive ramifications. #JudgementDay democracyinafrica.org/malawi…
As an election scholar, I’m getting the feeling that something is trying to tell me that my Malawian maternity leave has lasted long enough 🤔

History being made in #Malawi today! Important lessons for many countries around the world

I ran a motorsports newssite, worked in a lingerie shop, administrated public funds at a ministry, did comms at an agency, did.. something at a wonderfully bonkers start-up, restocked library shelves, interned at an embassy + prob a few more I’ve forgotten (mostly while studying)
Right, and I worked at @ecfr with my partner in crime, the magnificent @thomasokoenig! I knew I was missing something...
Also, we do talk to other people. My parents did not go to university and 95% of my friends, including my partner, work outside academia.

Who ‘wins’ an election and when do we know? Picking apart what an ‘election’ actually entails became a keystone of my thesis research. My research relates to India but it’s really instructive to see how this plays out in seemingly radically different systems, like Denmark! 1/6
Of course, parties are constrained in various ways when negotiating, e.g. by pre-electoral promises. (In some electoral contexts, parties also strategise pre-electorally to influence how votes can be cast but that's a story for another day.) 6/6
P.S. See also this thread teapawt.org/ChAndersen01/status/10… on the parallel - but much more contentious and drawn-out - negotiation stage that followed the Swedish elections last year.
The #SwedishElection is a great opportunity to learn about how governments are formed under what is called #NegativeParliamentarism 1/n
