We just operated one of the largest electrochemical lithium extraction systems in the world at our new Lithium Demonstration Center in Tooele, Utah. And we have an awesome video of our ribbon cutting to commemorate it! Not bad for a Seed stage start up. 😏

Showed this video to someone and they were like "that's not AI, right?" 😂 Guess we're building the "real world AI" everyone's been talking about! 🛠️

Talked to someone this week about what we’re doing and he was like “wait why haven’t I heard more about LFP…?” Good question! I’m on a mission to change that 🫡

Jensen has a way with words… The future’s gona be awesome 📈📈📈
Jensen is talking about the next jump after electricity and the internet. "Today, soon, we'll be able to know everything and do anything." 200 years ago, we learned to power things; then we learned to find things. Now he says you skip the 10 open tabs. You ask the question, hand over the project, give it the task, and the answer comes back finished from the cloud. That is the layer Nvidia is betting the whole stack on. Writer: Lucas

Just got our 3rd feature in the WSJ! The data center buildout has driven insane demand for LFP batteries. In just the last 5 years, annual deployments of LFP batteries in the US has grown 60x(!!). One problem, though: the LFP material itself is 99% made in China. Cell makers today are forced to buy LFP from China and miss out on the super generous 45X IRA credits…. until now. 👀 At @ElectroflowTech, we turn lithium saltwater into structurally cheaper, fully US-made LFP. You read that right: saltwater. We invented our brine-to-LFP technology, scaled it up 1,000,000,000x, and deployed it at our own brine site in Utah-all in 2.5 years. Not bad for a Seed stage company. 😏 And I have the honor of building our ElectroFactory and ElectroFinery every day alongside our absolutely cracked team! Cheers to the team for what we’ve accomplished thus far, and thank you @RhiannonHoyle for your coverage and continued support! We’re just getting started! 📈 wsj.com/pro/venture-capital/…

⚠️Grind-Slop Warning⚠️ How are you spending your holiday weekend? I’m binging @davidsenra content (halfway thru his James Dyson interview now) and cranking out slides, TEA updates, and emails on Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini simultaneously. Just as our forefathers envisioned. 😤

Thanks for stopping by @RepKevinMullin!
During a recent visit to Electroflow Technologies in San Bruno, I learned how they extract battery-grade lithium from saltwater. This cleaner alternative to traditional mining is a great example of how domestic, renewable energy supports local communities.

Hardware is hard indeed but it’s time to Build Real Stuff!
I talked to a founder today who's doing a software startup after two previous hardware startups. He's so much more relaxed that he seems a different person. Hardware is hard. It's at least possible now, but it's still hard.

Batteries
21,000 megawatts of battery storage. It was 770 when @CAGovernor Gavin Newsom started his term. California made a commitment to lead in this space. Now we’re the second largest utility scale battery storage in the world. China, then California. The state hasn’t had a Flex Alert in four years. That’s what battery storage has done.

SpaceX projecting $100B ARR by end of THIS YEAR! Insane. Got me thinking - what is their super power/moat/unfair advantage? Think it boils down to their incredible ability to build hardware. As Elon put it on the earnings call, Tesla and SpaceX are “top 2 in the world” for building hardware. Of course building reusable rockets is super hard and SpaceX is the only company that’s cracked it. But beyond that, because they’re so good at building hardware, they decided to build “terrestrial data centers” (funny that we have to make that distinction now), and they made $2.6B this quarter from just that. If you asked Elon 5 years ago how much money SpaceX would make building terrestrial data centers, I assume he’d say $0. But they can do it better than anyone else because they literally build rockets, and building data centers is comparatively “like the Yankees playing in the Little League,” as Elon put it. And they’re also making the Starlink satellites, launch-ready orbital data centers, (soon) a mass driver on the moon. It’s all hardware and I’m sure they’ll be good at it. Just thought it was interesting that the most hardware-centric hardware company may become the biggest winner of the AI boom, yet the hot thing right now is AI for everything. I, for one, love to see it. Engineering is magic and we need to Build Real Stuff!

LFP
Our first Megapacks with Made-in-America LFP cells are on their way to customers! 🇺🇸 These domestic cells are manufactured at our facility in Sparks, Nevada and integrated into Megapacks from our Megafactory in California. This is a significant milestone for domestic cell manufacturing and energy security
