If Trump is right that “whoever wins AI, wins,” then the pot odds on Taiwan may be getting too good for Xi Jinping to pass up. My latest in @WSJopinion on why Taiwan’s defense is now at the core of our national security, economic, and AI strategies. wsj.com/opinion/ai-and-the-g…

China exploits U.S. birthright citizenship through Chinese-owned surrogacy centers and vast birth tourism networks. Good on the administration for cracking down on those looking to abuse our immigration system.
SCOOP: President Trump’s Birth Tourism Task Force has revoked more than 700 visas held by Chinese nationals since its launched in August. “The Chinese birth tourism industry should not be allowed to profit from the privileges of American citizenship while undermining the integrity of our immigration laws,” a State Department spox told @DailySignal. dailysignal.com/2026/10/16/t…

A transformation in higher ed is underway. Ken Griffin's investment to bring @CarnegieMellon to Miami is a game changer for South Florida and the latest innovative effort to equip young Americans with the skills to thrive in the modern economy. From @a16z's Horowitz Andreessen Academy to @PalantirTech's Meritocracy Fellowship, industry is doing what our education system should have done long ago: building non-traditional pathways that prepare young people to solve our nation's hardest problems. America’s technical colleges should operate with this same reform-minded energy to modernize their programs, expand flexibility for students, and make two-year school cool again.
Hedge-fund titan Ken Griffin is donating $2 billion to start a Carnegie Mellon University campus in Miami, part of the largest-ever individual gift toward higher education on.wsj.com/4AGpvMq

The biggest threat to humanity isn’t rogue AI; it is AI controlled by China, which would use this transformative technology to take Taiwan and displace America as the world’s dominant superpower, writes @ChairmanG on.wsj.com/4iN7Fko

If Xi concludes that our lead in the AI race is insurmountable, or in other words, that he is on the losing side of a tech gap that will define military power for a generation, his case for Taiwan grows. Why play a losing game when you can flip the board? wsj.com/opinion/ai-and-the-g…

"The biggest threat to humanity isn't rogue AI; it is AI controlled by China." In @WSJopinion, @ChairmanG warns that if the United States does not "pace the AI frontier," the CCP will use the technology to take Taiwan and displace America as the world's dominant superpower.

Xi would want Taiwan even if it were a barren rock, but this island has become the single point of failure in the AI race. We need to recognize this shift in Beijing’s decision-making: the cost of not taking Taiwan may soon exceed the cost of taking it. wsj.com/opinion/ai-and-the-g…

Today, the Free World again faces a totalitarian power in the Chinese Communist Party that has made the same choice as the Soviets: to coerce, subvert, and dominate its neighbors and ultimately the international system. We should recognize the CCP isn't the Soviet Union; it is, in fact, wealthier, more integrated into our economy, more technologically ambitious. But Ike's framework holds: deeds, not words. And the deeds are damning.

Xi watches our shipbuilding rates, our munitions stocks, our political will. He doesn't just want Taiwan -- he wants the world to believe that America is a declining power that history has passed by. We must prove him wrong on both counts.

Lastly, on this 73rd anniversary of the "Chance for Peace," it is critical to remember: Americans are the good guys here. The CCP is still a ruthless authoritarian regime that jails priests, harvests organs, and dreams of regional -- then global -- dominance. In combating this, Eisenhower showed us how free nations win: hard power. Moral clarity. No apologies.

It would take much more from Eisenhower to bring that truce into effect -- to include coercion of an ally and flirtation with atomic weapons against communists in Korea and even mainland China. But it would happen. Steely resolve combined with statesmanship would deliver the goods for America. On July 27, 1953, the gun fell silent. And since then, the Republic of Korea has been permitted to endure -- free, prosperous, and strong.

For those who question whether America’s sacrifices were worth it, look at our ally in South Korea, an economic miracle of 52 million people with a GDP of roughly $1.9 trillion, making it the fourth largest economy in Asia and 13th largest in the world.
