How connections work when rail companies try
Luxembourg to Charing - total 5 mins delays
CFL / SNCB 10.11 Luxembourg - Brussels OT arr
Eurostar 14.52 Brussels - London 5mins LA
Southeastern 16.37 STP - AFK OT arr
And 17.28 AFH - CHG OT arr
Well done all
Don’t you just love a “window” seat. At least it’s an original cl 373 for once on the 14.52 from Brussels.
To all our friends in Canada, @CostaCoffee seem to be sticking two fingers up to Trump with their maple leaf decorated cappuccino!
1/. @tms1967 here’s the story of the newspaper train . It was around 1978ish when I was at Beckenham with South Eastern. We ran overnight newspaper trains, loco hauled vac braked with a single BSK usually for overnight pax to use.
4/. I got involved as I was with the Div Traction Engineer and we were asked if it would work. I went through the 73 instructions and brakes systems and said yes it would. It ran successfully. Even exhauster speed up worked from the VEP cab.
Here’s a thought. I hope @AvantiWestCoast be running enough London - Manchester services this summer for all the commuting @andyburnham will be doing between No10 north and south!
1/ Serious question here. ORR / DfT / Treasury want to cut back lightly used off peak services to save money. Ok I understand that. But how do you measure loading. An example. Off peak AFK - VIC leaves v lightly loaded. Arr CHG almost empty. Picks up a few pax.
Just seen the RAIB report into Talerddig collision is out. Why has it taken nearly 2 years ? Seems excessive
Guess the station. Closed 1965 but intended for a large Victorian cliff top town that was designed and never built.
Replying to @HastingsDiesels
@HastingsDiesels DEMU headcodes. Here’s the thread I promised. When the SR adopted numeric headcodes on their EMUs (SUBs, BILs etc i.e. the 1936 stock) the units did not have roller blinds. They had stencils in a box in the cab. There were 10 stencils 0 to 9 only. 1/
So H/Cs such as 11 , 22 etc could never be used. When the 1951 EPBs can along with roller blinds nothing changed as it didn’t have to. When the DEMUs came along in 1957 they needed new H/Cs for new routes they took over from steam. As they had roller blinds they used …….

Scalextric has today confirmed its involvement in the rollout of Guided Motorway Infrastructure across the UK.
Vehicles will follow fixed lanes using underbody guides, with drivers controlling speed through throttle input. The aim is to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and remove unnecessary lane changes.
In the unlikely event of a “deslot”, trained motorway marshals will return vehicles safely to operation. Further updates to follow.
