Let's be real.
Educators keep saying test scores don't tell the whole story. They're right, but not the way they mean it.
Illiteracy is generational.
When Mama and Daddy struggled to read, the kids inherit that struggle. It's intergenerational, and it passes down at the kitchen table before a child ever walks into a classroom.
You can't fix it with a new curriculum alone you fix it by getting parents reading, getting families involved, and getting the home back in the education business.
Schools can't carry this by themselves. Literacy starts at home.

Flames Rip Through Brush Right Next to the Van Wyck. A brush fire burned near Willow Lake by the Van Wyck Expressway and Jewel Avenue in Queens on Friday afternoon.
First reports came in just after 5 p.m., and an All Hands was soon declared. Smoke reached the area of the highway as firefighters worked the fire.

Steven Joseph Wolfe, 54, entered a guilty plea to one charge of soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct on Friday, Feb. 9.
A second charge of 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child will be dismissed at sentencing, according to his plea agreement.
According to court documents, Wolfe was originally charged with soliciting a child in May of 2023, after a child told law enforcement that Wolfe had propositioned him in 2021, when the child was about 12 years old.
In August of 2023, the prosecution filed a motion to include information about an unknown incident in Florida involving Wolfe and the child, and “the defendant’s history of inappropriate behaviors toward the alleged victim as described in the police reports” in the Minnesota court case.

Prior to searching the apartment deputies conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle Cortez Rice was driving after leaving the apartment. The vehicle was searched, pursuant to the warrant. Deputies located two items in the center console: 0.49g of field-tested positive cocaine folded inside a one-dollar bill and 0.99g of field-tested positive cocaine inside a cigarette pack.
NEW: This loser. Grifter posing as activist Cortez Aaron Rice, 37, is in custody after being arrested by the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office this afternoon on probable cause felon in possession of a firearm and drugs.
We've posted Rice numerous times, starting with when he was trying to intimidate the Hennepin County judge in the Kim Potter case by entering her Loring Park condo building and stalking outside her door while calling for "the gang" to join him.

A private prison in Minnesota was offered for sale for $75 million last year.
The Trump administration paid $495.6 million for the same facility.
That’s a difference of more than $420 million in taxpayer money.
And these are the people lecturing Minnesotans about fraud?
The hypocrisy is staggering.
