Ahead of our Halloween skele-brations, we're shining a light on the most significant skeleton discovered in Cheddar 💀
Did you know that the oldest near-complete human skeleton in Great Britain was found right here in Gough's Cave?
At first there were claims that the skeleton was the long-sought earliest Englishmen, but scientists have since proved that the remains belonged to a Mesolithic man, which means that he lived around 10,000 years ago.
You can learn more about the skeleton we call Cheddar Man when you visit Gough's Cave and the Museum of Prehistory as part of a day out here at Cheddar Gorge & Caves.

If you can't make this Friday's activity day for home educators, the next one is coming up on the 13th November!
This time it will be all about Surviving the Stone Age, giving students the chance to see one of our experienced demonstrators using the very same fire-lighting and flint-knapping techniques as our ancient ancestors 🔥
They'll also be able to ask questions before exploring the Museum of Prehistory, where they can view Stone Age artefacts from the local area and beyond.

Big news from the North Pole! 🎅🎄
This winter, the elves will be setting up the South West Workshop in Gough's Cave once more to work through all your letters to Father Christmas and make sure there are enough toys for presents.
That's not all - Father Christmas himself will be stopping off on selected dates from 21st November until Christmas Eve to ensure operations are up to scratch and to meet you and your children. He'll even be giving out gifts to those who've been good! 🎁
