One of the reasons avg. ICU length of stay is coming down because ICUs are receiving a bolus of 50-70 new patients each day whose length of stay starts at zero days.
Avg LOS was ~20 because fewer new pts were being admitted to ICU months ago and long-stay pts pulled up avg.
