💪🏼 Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso: “It's part of the business; you need to deal with mistakes and we keep confidence in Mike and he will be in goal against Liverpool. We win and we lose together and it's part of the job to deal with mistakes, myself as well as everyone. We support Mike and Geo [Quenda] as well, the guys starting their first [Premier League] games. He will want to prove he can do better - and we also have to show that” (via @ChelseaFC)

And to think Conor Gallagher was given the banner ‘Chelsea since birth’

🇪🇨 Chelsea are not happy with Kendry Paez and want to get rid of him. His next club and whether he will join them on loan or a permanent transfer in January needs to be clarified. He was bought for €20m and his market value has now dropped to €6m. (SW)

Absolute gold. 😅

😔 A full Premier League debut to forget for Geovany Quenda. 🔹 Fewest touches among Chelsea players: 29. 🔹 Minimal threat in the final third: Just 1 touch in Tottenham’s box (the lowest of any player in the game). 🔹 Attacking actions failed: His only attempted dribble was unsuccessful, and his only attempted cross failed. 🔹 Long passes: 0 successful out of 2 attempts. 🔹 Defensive vulnerability on the ball: He was dribbled past twice, most of any player at Stamford Bridge. What next for Quenda? Maybe a loan in January.

Xabi Alonso’s tactical set-up was not befitting of a club that say they want to be competing with the biggest and best soon enough. They showed no authority, no ingenuity, no sense that they were prepared to make the most of what little possession they had as the ball was hoofed in hope amid their 32%. (via @kierangill_DM)

Manchester United will have a new manager when they face Chelsea 🤦‍♂️

Chelsea under Xabi Alonso are averaging just 46% possession. 🔹 Fulham (A) – 38.1% 🟢 🔹 Brighton (H) – 26.0% 🟢 - lowest PL possession in club’s history 🔹 Arsenal (A) – 45.4% 🔴 🔹 Hull (H) – 67.8% 🟠 🔹 Brentford (A) – 59.8% 🔴 🔹 Bournemouth (H) – 49.9% 🟢 🔹 Everton (A) – 52.8% 🟢 🔹 Spurs (H) – 31.5% 🔴 This is the opposite of his Leverkusen/Madrid sides. Are we better without the ball, or is this just early chaos that won’t last?

🇧🇷 Estevao is growing increasingly frustrated with life under Xabi Alonso at Chelsea, after playing just 47 minutes of Premier League football this term. Chelsea sources insist Estevao remains a significant part of the club’s long-term plan and insist they have no plans to allow the Brazilian to leave on loan. Sources suggest that position could be revisited in January if Estevao is still not receiving the minutes expected by that stage of the season. (via @GraemeBailey)

FT: Chelsea 0-2 Tottenham Have faith in Xabi Alonso. But how would you rate his in-game management so far, at Chelsea?

Should have started in Joao Pedro’s absence. Xabi Alonso monstrously fucked up his game plan. Loss on him.

Losing to Tottenham. Realising Arsenal are going to be winning back-to-back Premier League titles. Any new sports recommendations?
