The legendary Star Trek and X-Men star, Patrick Stewart has passed away at 86, ending a remarkable career that stretched more than six decades across Shakespeare, television and blockbuster cinema. For generations, Stewart represented a different kind of hero. As Captain Jean-Luc Picard, intelligence and diplomacy were his greatest weapons. As Professor Charles Xavier, he became the calm center of a world divided by fear and prejudice. But those two icons only revealed part of his range. He could become a hardened warrior in Dune, a terrifying extremist in Green Room, a comedic king in Robin Hood: Men in Tights, or return to his classical roots as Ebenezer Scrooge and Captain Ahab. Some of his most famous live-action roles: • Jean-Luc Picard — Star Trek • Professor Charles Xavier — X-Men • Gurney Halleck — Dune • Darcy Banker — Green Room • King Richard — Robin Hood: Men in Tights • Ebenezer Scrooge — A Christmas Carol • Captain Ahab — Moby Dick • Dr. Jonas — Conspiracy Theory • Alistair Burke — Frasier • John Bosley — Charlie’s Angels Stewart passed at his Los Angeles home after what his representative described as a brief journey with Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementia, surrounded by family and friends. He gave science fiction two of its greatest leaders, but his legacy reaches far beyond the stars and the X-Mansion. For more than 60 years, Patrick Stewart showed us that the strongest presence in the room could also be the calmest. Rest in paradise, Sir Patrick Stewart 🕊️
