🧵Growing up Wog in Australia
My mum migrated to Australia in 1972, I was 7 years old when we landed here from Egypt. At school I was called wog and made to feel like I didn’t belong, like I was stupid because I couldn’t speak English. It didn’t matter I spoke French, Italian, – at Sydney, New South Wales

The Govt enters into $100B worth of contracts each year, all with confidentiality terms that prevent citizens from knowing if the contractor is performing well. If I win in the Full Federal Court next week, that’ll all change. #transparency #Snowy #auspol michaelwest.com.au/snowy-blo…

This 👇 Bureaucrats don’t want to be held accountable in/from Estimates. Behind closed doors is their preference & precisely how Robodebt ended up with a RC showing how bureaucrats cover up. And Katy & Gordon deciding a new APS Value of ‘stewardship’ would fix the rot! #auspol
Genius
Why aren’t ordinary Australians getting to question senators?

The ATO has been doing this for years and destroying taxpayers including by fabricating evidence to raise debts that are irrecoverable at law. But they wont go after certain groups because several senior assistant, deputy and Commissioner of Taxation are former KPMG looking after many of this select groups
The ATO has stopped acting like a tax office and started acting like a debt-collection cartel. Raids, data-matching dragnets, forced monthly BAS, all aimed at small businesses already fighting to survive. Meanwhile the multinationals settle quietly. Who is this system actually protecting? #auspol

NAB made almost $7 billion in profit last year and still wants to axe 2,500 jobs.
To use buzzwords like ‘future fit’ to justify cutting 2,500 people is deeply disappointing and raises serious questions about whether its vision for the future is one powered by Australians or by AI and an offshore workforce.
Banks need to give their staff a genuine voice in this technological transformation instead of subjecting them to an AI dictatorship.

15% GST extended to all food items is a ridiculous idea proposed by @GrattanInst with no consideration of the regressive nature of the tax affecting the most vulnerable

THE PRIME MINISTER'S "NUMBERS WORTH REMEMBERING". HERE ARE THE ONES HE LEFT OUT.
Anthony Albanese posted a list of numbers this week. Some are real. The $25 cap on PBS medicines is a good thing, and so is six months of paid parental leave.
But if we're remembering numbers, let's remember all of them.
The 5% deposit scheme wasn't Labor's. The Morrison government started it in January 2020. Labor expanded it last October. Treasury's own documents expected first-year demand to run more than 30% above normal. Since then rates have gone up four times and home values have fallen six months in a row. Families who bought with 5% down are the most exposed.
850,000 Free TAFE "enrolments". Enrolling isn't finishing. By March 2026, 258,000 had completed a course out of 814,000 enrolments. That's fewer than one in three.
The 15% pay rise for childcare workers is real, and taxpayers are paying for it. The extension alone costs $3.6 billion. Childcare prices before subsidies still rose 9% in the year to April, more than double inflation.
137 Urgent Care Clinics. The government's own evaluation found "no clear evidence" that emergency department waiting times have improved.
And the numbers that didn't make his list:
$275 off your power bill, promised by 2025. Electricity rose 22.4% in the year to June.
Four rate rises this year. About $470 a month more on the average new mortgage.
1.2 million homes promised. 124,000 behind after two years.
241,000 people moved off the NDIS, most of them children.
"We'll keep delivering for every Australian." Australians can count.
Cold Hard Facts. Corrected when wrong. No misinformation.
What's your thoughts…?
