My mother nearly died from a bleeding peptic ulcer caused by H. pylori. For me, stopping GI bleeding has always been deeply personal. That experience gives added meaning to the privilege of speaking at the American College of Gastroenterology’s Annual Postgraduate Course and moderating “GI Bleeding Unplugged: Real-World Tools and Techniques.” My talk focused on advances in endoscopic treatment of upper GI bleeding—from hemostatic topical agents to over-the-scope clips—and how to use these tools when the stakes are highest.
