Replying to @TruckStopUlti
.@TruckStopUlti @SeattleSockeye I move that you challenge them to a collaborative effort to break down harmful gender norms. And dance-off.

Truck takes offense that you think @SeattleSockeye is the least traditionally masculine team. teapawt.org/chucktownnow/status/92…
Imho @FloridaUnited (3-0) is the most traditionally masculine team in men's and @SeattleSockeye (0-3) is the least. A step backwards today?

Tell me again why we're holding an ESPN personality to higher standards than the president? Oh bc they represent something bigger than themselves; kinda like a president is a direct representation of their country. No that's not it? Sorry, please continue with your bullshit

What if one caught a disc he tipped while d-ing someone else and the play ended up on SportsCenter?

Today is @DavidCranston birthday. RT if you've caught a goal after he tipped the disc playing D on you. Like if you've scored on him.

Just as it's unhelpful to teach ppl that all barriers are impassable, it's also dumb to dismiss their challenges & withhold tools they need.
But Ryan invites precisely that learned helplessness by denying real barriers--esp. when his policies presume the game is already fair.
In a kind reading, perhaps Ryan's rhetoric aims to prevent learned helplessness (if the game is rigged, why play, or care about strategy?).
Admittedly, we should not let our noble desire to highlight systemic hurdles produce a sense of despair, defeat, or total lack of agency.
On last RT: The notion of a meritocracy is a worthy ideal to strive for. We must keep working toward it, not enact policy as if we're done.

In college, I believed this deeply. It's fundamental to justify libertarian stance. Learning it was empirically false changed my politics. teapawt.org/speakerryan/status/904…

.@MattSnyderCBS Foxx also did it in '32, beating out Ruth (58-41). Ruth is the only other player to finish with such a lead (7 times).
.@MattSnyderCBS So if Stanton finishes with his current lead of 14 homers (or more), he'd be the first to do so since integration.

Stanton has a 14-HR lead. Last batter to finish with such a margin? Foxx over Ruth in 1933 (48-34). @MattSnyderCBS
