Pleased to speak at the Mission Driven Business reception this evening.
As we set our priorities for government, it was great to discuss how we can work together with the social investment sector to invest in and support communities across the country.
Looking forward to hearing from @Steph_Peacock @Lola__McEvoy @lukejcr on the role of vital community enterprises and mission led business

Also some very timely research from @SocialEnt_UK out today showing how social enterprises pay better, offer training, involve employees in organisational decision-making, and retain staff. Worth a look ⬇️

Great to be in Manchester to listen to @lisanandy and talking to @dcms and others about the important role charities and social enterprises play in both society and economy and highlighting the impact of #DormantAssets scheme on 1000s of grassroots organisations 💪
In her maiden speech at @sim_manchester, Culture Secretary @lisanandy sets out her vision for unlocking growth and opportunity in the UK’s £170 billion culture, media and sport sectors to industry leaders from across the UK.

Really interesting reflections from @lisanandy on the need for a new national story that reflects the tireless work of people in communities - building stuff that lasts and making things better step by step 👏
Good to see many #socents #charity #impactinvesting colleagues too

Fantastic to see @Steph_Peacock the new Minister for Civil Society @DCMS getting out and about already.
Visiting a brilliant social enterprise in Barnsley that makes education accessible for young people (also one that has received #DormantAssets funding via social investment).
Brilliant to visit social enterprise @ReallyNEETPro today as minister. I had the chance to see their outstanding youth work & learning offer, supporting young people to build relationships and develop new skills across Barnsley. They also have sites in Rotherham, Telford & London
Yes.
Job sharing remains fairly rare in the charity sector, especially at senior level. @LeaLegraien looks at whether more charities should adopt this form of flexible working civilsociety.co.uk/news/in-d…
Can testify this is a great role, working with dedicated and passionate people - I learnt a huge amount in my time at the Commission not least about the fascinating breadth of the charity sector and the many issues it touches.
Five days left to apply for this great role in my leadership team (closes Sunday): jobs.theguardian.com/job/909…
I am very much here for the cross party endorsements 👍
Big congratulations to @Miatsf - a great person, of exceptional talent.
As a civil servant Miatta was my lead official on 2 big innovations: creating the first National Planning Policy Framework and the City Deals that established the mayoralties.
A huge asset to the Government

Charities see and understand the barriers communities face, but what they can achieve is often limited by funds, investment or lack of long-term thinking in policy. We need easier routes in for social investment and philanthropic giving so charities can transform more lives.
🚀 It's great to see former Chief Secretary to the Treasury Sir @stephenctimms in @CityAM calling for a strategic partnership with the #ImpactEconomy to tackle some of the UK's most entrenched issues.
🤝 We agree that the next government needs to be imaginative in mobilising resources to achieve their ambitions. Social and impact investors, philanthropists, and purpose-driven businesses are essential to drive this progress!
