This past weekend, Magic hosted 4 major competitive events across the world (Australia, Argentina, the USA, and Magic Arena), across Standard and Modern, with over half a Million in prize money! RC South America was the biggest ever held there. People who say competitive Magic is dead are wrong. It might look different than it did in the past, but it’s alive and well. There’s always room for improvement and I’m here for it!

2 thoughts: - I think it’s silly anyone is blindly siding with the OP here, when even in his version (that others have called into question), he purposefully interfered with an ongoing match. - In high-level Magic, players are moved from the row after their match for a reason.
Riftbound Melbourne Showdown Unfortunately I did not win the best of poppy in the showdown even tho I was the best of poppy on the day and they took it away from me. Story time. Going into day 2 of the showdown in Melbourne I was 2nd in the hunt for the best of poppy I went and found most of the poppy’s that where in contention and wished them best of luck. When the day finished I checked the results and I was on top and went and celebrated with my friends. Last game of the day I played against the other poppy ( let’s say poppy 2)that was in contention and next to me was the another poppy ( let’s say poppy 3)as well that was in contention. I won 2-0 so I’m pretty much on top. The other ( poppy 3) player was versing a nasus which he was in contention for the best of Nasus. After we finished all 4 of us we where kinda chatting along and watching the game while the 2 where playing( nasus vs poppy)The Nasus player asked the poppy(3) “are you in contention” which she stated I don’t think so cause this guy won(me)and he is above me. I replied to Poppy(3) saying actually you were above me before this game started I’m second. After their game 2 ( 1-1) the nasus player asked in general hey has the other nasus won which I said “ I think he lost “. They finished their game and the result was a draw. After the game I said to all the poppy’s good efforts it was a tight race. And left the table The poppy(3)that drew to the Nasus started crying and complaining to the judges that the Nasus slow played on purpose so he can win the best off. ( meanwhile they draw so both didint get it). After that didint work she stated that I convinced the Nasus to try harder and play and win so poppy(3) doesn’t get the best off poppy. After a while they called the Nasus player up on where the judges where sitting and asked him if he knew me which he stated “ no “. After a while the same head judge came and grabbed me and stated that what I did was wrong and they will give me a game loss and the poppy(3)a game win. After more back and forth another stuff member came ( was wearing purple shirt saying staff ) and told me that after talking to the head judges and all the parties they will give me a game loss and the Nasus a game loss too. Ps: I was not gonna make a big tweet about it until I heard the same person that “ won “ the best off poppy - poppy(3)saying to her friends “ im happy that I won it and the other guy is malding” Ps2: The same poppy tried to convince a riven player in round 7 to concede which he refused. PS3: The same poppy player was friends with a lot of judges and head judges and they were celebrating when she won her round 8 matchup against a LILLIA. PS4: During my last mirror matchup I had consistently a judge sitting watching our game and also I had a judge come and check my sideboard and not check the opponent’s sideboard poppy(2).( if I’m not mistaken that judge was friends with the Poppy(3)as well ) Ps5: The Poppy(2) that I defeated towards the end asked the head judges “ I get that you gave him a game loss but why did you give the Nasus a game loss too ?” And the same head judge replied “it’s done now and you can email UVS if you have a complaint but i have been judge for 10 years and nothing happens” Anyways just wanted to share that information because we can’t have competitive players and judges being good friends makes everything so tricky and unfair. I never refused saying to the nasus player “ I think the other nasus lost”.

I used to referee little kid soccer like this; you mostly just directed them the right way and helped them learn. Super fulfilling - until two parents got into a fistfight because their kids kept bumping into each other like kids chasing a soccer ball do
What is wrong with the pale nation??? Call the police on a 3 yr old because he's too good for their kids???? 😳

A skunk just came up to me and sniffed my toes while I was looking at my phone… and then respectfully walked away when I looked up and froze

I guess we’ve come a long way from a few months ago when I would run into this guy and he would turn his back and poise to strike while I ran away. Highly recommend walking late at night if you have a safe space and it fit your schedule. I see the deer a few times a week too

I’m told this is a good Riftbound open? Opened Evelynn as my legend too so this will be fun!

I think tournaments are better when you’re trying to be the best, not the best-of-whatever-card-I-can-flip-for-rent

You’ve probably seen players, talent, and roster reporters QRT posts like this. They’re making hundreds or even thousands a month doing it. “Literally this needs to look organic,” wrote a Polymarket rep in the Discord where this is all organized. So I wrote about it…

Can someone explain why he’s upset with this? I don’t know the terminology well enough to fully follow but it seems like combating collusion is a huge win for @riftboundop
I am so immensely disappointed by the timeline on this decision @riftboundop. I have played hundreds/over a thousand hours of Leblanc for the sole intention of winning every best of I can. I have never once registered with the intention of winning an event. Every event I have ever won/done well has been a byproduct of my ambition to secure a best-of status for my girl. I understand the anti-collusion efforts, and I even agree with some of the decision. The timeline is unreal. I have 3 weeks before Stuttgart to figure out what I’m doing. I want this to be the pinnacle of competitive Riftbound and now I question if it will be. There is such a distinct advantage given to those who have been playing S tier legends for months and months. People have spent so many hours working on Set 1 legends again. We were looking at what could potentially be one of the most diverse and interesting formats ever. Now it’s going to be 4 decks. I’m actually speechless.

If you see this sentiment on your tl, it’s likely because people with blue checks are engagement farming you. There is a free-for-all in the riftbound space right now for views and to be recognized by Riot’s decision-makers in the space, and those incentives are driving choices
Let me tell you something Magic the Gathering players. If there was any definitive indication that now is the time to jump ship and come over to Riftbound, now is it. All competitive formats are dead, and Wizards won't do jack about it. Want to play a game that actually gives a damn about you? Come to Riftbound. Theres barely even a learning curve too since the game operates with a very similar engine.

Something I do want to note is that companies want to be associated with positivity; you don’t have to snuff out anyone’s candle to make yours burn brighter. Create content that people love to engage with and the audience/rewards long-term will follow. That’s what brands want

They’re saying it’s almost as bad as buying blue checks and ai art
New pet peeve unlocked: Commander players who hold grudges between games. Played a pod with randoms the other day where I won the first game pretty convincingly and the table got so salty that the next game we played (I switched decks) they hard focused me off rip. I hate that.

Modern is pretty broken so Turn 3/4 wins with this deck aren’t as consistent as they were in its heyday 10 years ago, but Fight Rigging is an incredible add in 8Emrakul

“Casting” is just… broadcasting. It’s a professional field that many of us went to school for and trained in other fields. I did years of sports radio before commentating my first League of Legends or Magic event
Commentating or casting is not a "reward" for being a content creator. It is a high pressure public facing job, requiring the ability to communicate with a huge amount of people live, while balancing the needs of stakeholders involved. People who are selected to do this always have my full support. Being part of the community is not necessarily a requirement, but being able to do your job and tick all the boxes is. If your end goal of being a content creator is for the rewards that you might get, then I would say it's probably better to use your time for something else.
