Shock The Monkey was released #onthisday in 1982 as the first single from Peter's fourth album, performed at Sanremo Music Festival in 1983.
"Most people saw that as a sort of animal rights song, but it wasn’t actually, it was a song about jealousy." - pg

"‘Four, in some ways, was a more home-produced album, partly because it was the first one in my own studio. Initially, we had a mobile outside the farm building and then gradually built a studio as we went along. I was working with David Lord who I’d known a bit in Bath, he had studio there, but he’d come really more from a classical background, but was very good with textures and sounds. A lot of time, as always, I had been noodling away, and he was quite good at helping forge through that. Stewart Copeland also came in, as well as Jerry Marotta, to do some drumming." - pg
Peter Gabriel 4: Security was released this week in 1982.

Secret World Live was originally released on VHS on this day in 1994. The tour, in support of the album Us, saw Peter play more than 150 shows around the world in 1993 and 1994.
This past Saturday was Alive with Ten history. 🤘
@SOLATpod hosted an intimate listening party and panel discussion at @LonBridgeStudio — the very place where Ten was recorded 35 years ago — with co-owner and producer Eric Lilavois as well as producer Josh Evans. Mike also made a surprise appearance to join the celebration! Following the panel’s reflections and story-swaps, attendees jammed to the recently announced, newly mixed ‘Ten Live’ record – the first time it's ever been played for a public audience.
Thank you all who joined us for this special moment together!
35 years after Ten started it all, its complete live performance is coming to vinyl for the first time!
Ten Live captures Pearl Jam’s historic April 29, 2016 show at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center when they performed the album in its entirety — for only the second time in the band’s history and the first time ever in the U.S.
The live record is available on ("Turned My World To”) Black vinyl, plus a limited-edition clear pressing that is exclusive to Ten Club members. Preorders begin today at pj.lnk.to/tenliveTP

Playing "Crazy Mary" for the 2nd time ever with Victoria Williams and Brendan O'Brien in New Orleans, 1993.
In that same year on this day, Sweet Relief: A Benefit For Victoria Williams came out with proceeds supporting Sweet Relief, an organization that funds healthcare for uninsured musicians. Pearl Jam joined Lou Reed, Lucinda Williams, Buffalo Tom, Maria McKee and more in contributing covers from Victoria's original compositions to the project. Hear the record: pj.lnk.to/sweetreliefTP
