My new book is #1 on Amazon (in Technical writing 😁)
It's the sum of a ten-year career and available in "all good bookstores."
Whilst you're there, buy one of my fiction books too!
Review and share. This really helps! 💯🙇♂️

New episode of Tech Lounge is out! This time I sat down with Brian Panarello of Dark Wolf to talk cybersecurity, or as he calls it, “punk rock cybersecurity”.
We get into the past, present and future of the industry — from how he got into security to where it's heading next.

Mainly for my own convenience, I spent some time making chrischinchilla.com easier for AI tools and agents to use.
There's now a remote MCP server (read-only, no sign-in) for listing, searching, and reading content. WebMCP tools exposed in-browser for agents.

After beta testing, my new app is out!
It's a macOS app (for now) for pulling all your scattered task lists into one place. If you're juggling to-dos across apps and want one unified view, take a look!

A JSON content API that mirrors it all. An "Open with AI" menu on long-form posts that opens the page as markdown.

New newsletter's out: Full disk regrets.
This week: AI coding agents quietly grabbing full-disk access, Europe's push for digital sovereignty, and why chip shortages are making performance cool again.
Also: Cubase 15, LANDR buying Reason Studios, Rocky Linux forking OpenRadioss, and a site that predicts Bending Spoons' next acquisition.

With the component shortage, I've heard a lot from developers focused on performance again. So I have a plug! 😬
Even if you're not focused on sustainability, my book with Ines Akrap, "Building the Sustainable Web", is full of efficiency advice.

Two new anthologies with stories of mine in them: Collective Verses Volume VI and In a Flash Volume IV, both from the Storytelling Collective.
If you're into short fiction and poetry, take a look :)

They're building an AI-powered app that uses live scam data to protect people, especially the more vulnerable among us, from phone fraud.
We get into how that protection actually works under the hood, and why this corner of fraud is only getting weirder now that scammers have AI tools too.

I've been testing two AI note recorders: the Plaud Note and EurekaMind.
The hardware is similar, but Plaud's software is more polished (even MCP/CLI tools now). Pricing works differently: Plaud gives 300 free minutes a month, EurekaMind's Pro tier is unlimited.
After living with both for a while, I also wonder, do you need a dedicated device at all given how good on-device AI is getting on phones?

Energy is one of the more interesting and applicable corners of open source, and one I don't think gets talked about enough.
European grid operators and utilities are deploying these projects in production, not just experimenting with it, making Europe's grid more resilient and more flexible.
I spent time with the community in Berlin recently and wrote up a rundown of the projects and activities: chrischinchilla.com/blog/202…
