As a drinks writer my inbox is now bursting with official tariff statements from producers all over the world basically saying What the Actual Fuck?

Don’t think this picture is going to age well for anyone in it…

Wasn’t expecting to see this on a trip to Jerez. Some interesting and different white wines made with Palomino. Wonder if we’ll be seeing more wines like this in the coming years. @barbadillo

Uh oh. It’s only going to take one week of frost over the next six weeks and that’s France 2024 vintage down the U-bend. Fingers crossed for the country’s growers.

Cutty Sark’s Centenary Edition is rocking a full on nautical look, complete with sail packaging, cleat capsule and sheet/eye closure. Buy enough bottles and you can probably furnish your own boat. #cuttycentenary

Just heard that vintage has started in Roussillon. Yep. On August 3rd. If this carries on pretty soon French vignerons will be able to do harvest and still go on holiday for the whole of August.

This is an excellent article on a complex subject. Balanced, informed and highly informative.
A balanced take - "The main message is not that drinking is bad. It's that drinking isn't good. Like cake isn't good for you. Getting in a car isn't safe. Life has risks associated with it, and I think drinking is one of them." slate.com/technology/2023/04… via @slate

Totally agree with this ‘not working for free’ nonsense. And I’m happy to undercut every other journalist by 10% to prove it.
Why is it so hard to get paid professional fees when you are a professional? Girls, pros, do stand up for pay.

Wrote this piece for World of Fine Wine on climate change and wine. Some of the stats are, frankly, terrifying.

I love Otter transcription software. It’s just translated Sauvignon Semillon as ‘Sobering Yawn Semi-on’.

I’ve just seen someone wearing a fully branded Greggs onesie. In public. During the day. I feel as privileged as if I’d seen a snow leopard in its natural habitat.

On trade will be taking arms against a sea of troubles in 2023. But can it oppose and end them?
Read @ChrisLosh's article reflecting on the On Trade predictions of a challenging year ahead, where despite difficulties, hope remains – with some positive learnings and improvements taking place throughout the industry, at: bibendum-wine.co.uk/fine-lee…

In case you were wondering, it is impossible to write a reasoned article on the impact of climate change in wine when this idiot is squeaking a bone under your desk. All. The. Time.
