Really nice work by the CBC in this interactive piece on buried rivers in Canadian cities:

Hey @ryanmaxin - Please stop calling traffic deaths like this "accidents." This road is dangerous by design, improvements are long overdue. Calling this an accident just avoids placing responsibility where it's due. @jessiesingernyc #crashnotaccident

This piece makes a great point: We need to be paying a lot more attention to the infrastructure we’re building in our cities, and the consequences of making it so much easier to build roads & highways than anything else.
Austin is planning a light rail system and a downtown freeway expansion simultaneously.
These two projects perfectly illustrate the double standards built into American transportation policy.
Project Connect light rail:
—Overwhelmingly wins at the ballot box
—Attacked and undermined by GOP legislators + AG Ken Paxton
—Scaled back (from 28 miles to 10) due to cost overruns and the strict criteria of federal grant programs
I-35 freeway expansion:
—Never subject to a vote, opposed by numerous city, state, and federal reps
—TxDOT self certifies environmental impact report, avoids real scrutiny for dubious analysis
—Federal funding is automatic, no grant application necessary

Dangerous cars shouldn't receive top safety ratings. Tell @nhtsagov you too support safer cars, SUVs, and trucks for everyone on the road: p2a.co/qUwdxEH
TIL there’s an @ATXMetroBike station at the @AUStinAirport. I would’ve used it to get home, but sadly the one bike at the station has a flat rear tire. #deflated
A rollover crash at the most pedestrian-intensive intersection in Austin. We’re choosing to allow this to happen. Maybe it’s time to rethink that choice. #carfreeDrag #ProjectConnect
A rollover crash at Guadalupe & 24th has multiple lanes closed. Expect delays and seek alternate routes. #ATXtraffic
I keep watching this over & over, and mulling the fact that @TxDOT won’t allow fixed objects in the clear zone because doing so would endanger drivers. #VisionZero
My submission for worst “something else to parking lot” downgrade: 307 W.12th St. in Austin, shown here before and after the 1973 demolition. Progress! @CNU_CTX #SeaOfParkingContest
Ok this one tops mine

This is @chiproytx, the exurban Republican who represents the part of downtown Austin where I live, trying to show he cares what his constituents think; it's the sole question on a mass email he sent Friday:
Replying to @austinmobility
@austinmobility is apparently too embarrassed about this to admit it publicly, so to clarify: The City is refusing to make Pleasant Valley bikeable north of the dam, as called for in the bike plan, even while it's investing millions to upgrade the crossing at the dam. (1/4)
Replying to @austinmobility
Cool! But Pleasant Valley isn't really bikeable just north of the dam. With resurfacing starting there this week, will we finally be getting a bike lane up to E.7th, as called for in the bike plan? Pleasant Valley already has bike lanes north of there. teapawt.org/austinmobility/status/…
The City is now set to resurface the one part of Pleasant Valley that lacks bike lanes, from E.7th to Cesar Chavez. The bike plan has called for bike lanes here since at least 2009. Instead, the City is about to re-install four car lanes along this stretch, and no bike lanes.
This is Pleasant Valley at E.5th at 5:10pm last Friday. It’s a deadly 4-lane stroad, and @austinmobility is apparently determined to keep it that way, in spite of the bike plan, the Austin Strategic Mobility Plan, climate change, and Vision Zero. #zerovision
Just another Monday in the “protected” bike lane on Rio Grande. @ATX_311 has proven to be useless at dealing with this - a parking enforcement officer finally moseyed out to the site about 90 minutes later. @austinmobility #visionzero
Vancouver is showing how bike lanes should be done - – at Austin, TX

Meanwhile, here in Austin, our corridor program tries to inspire people with images like this: teapawt.org/ATXcorridors/status/13…
Hey there, #WilliamCannonDrCorridor!
In a few years, a Rockridge Dr near you will look like this - protected bike lanes, visible crosswalks, the whole 9 yards.
#Mobility & #safety improvements like these will help everyone, no matter how you travel!
