I found this young emperor moth out on the Dorset heathland at the weekend. It had just emerged and was starting to pump out his wings.
I stayed with it for about 1 1/2hrs taking shots at various stages before it was finally ready to fly off. @DWTWeyPort @savebutterflies
@TheRAC_UK are a complete joke!! I waited 5 hours yesterday for recovery before agreeing to leave my vehicle and go home and sort it today as it was going to be at least 2 more hours. I’ve now been waiting another 3 hours in the vehicle and still nothing!!! Help!!!!!🤬
Just been told that they helped someone in Weymouth at 10.30…I’m in Weymouth!!! Why have they not contacted me as well!!! Ridiculous!!!🤬🤬 Don’t ever use them!! @Dorsetecho
Several locals, myself included, were starting to worry that these had been lost from Dorset over recent years.
Luckily we managed to find this female today, the only one, after a lot of searching but hopefully a positive sign.
Morden Bog, Dorset. @BDSdragonflies @BrownHawker
Our NHS is not for sale. Trade talks with Trump must not open the door to US healthcare profiting from our NHS. Keir Starmer must protect our NHS by keeping it off the table during deal negotiations. Join me by adding your name to 38 Degrees’ petition: act.38degrees.org.uk/act/-do…
It was pretty warm and sunny this morning in Dorset so we had a go for an early adder and struck lucky!! Photo taken with a long zoom lens to avoid disturbance and heavily cropped.

I took this photo in Menorca recently and assumed at the time it was a common blue but the black dots on the rear upperwing are making me wonder if it's a different species or just a local variation...any ideas? @ukbutterflies @Greenwings @martinswarren
My first sand lizard of the year, much later than usual, this weather is making it difficult for them to bask and warm up. Dorset heathland. @ARGroupsUK @ARC_Bytes @DorsetWildlife
Went looking for early reptiles in Dorset today, found an adder and a slow worm, photos taken with a long zoom lens to avoid disturbance and heavily cropped. Both were still happily basking when we left them. @DorsetWildlife @ARC_Bytes @ARGroupsUK
A lucky find in Dorset this morning, a dipper on the River Frome north of Dorchester. Not a common sight in this area. It's not a great shot but I didn't want to disturb it!! @DorsetWildlife @DorsetBirdClub
