All they do is lie!
They don’t hide the left because they left it.
They hide it because the product doesn’t sell in places like Montana.
Montana Democrat Sam Forstag is trying to hide the left that built him.
He’s the smokejumper/union guy running to flip Montana’s 1st District. For months his campaign website proudly listed national progressive heavyweights under “National Leaders”: Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Pramila Jayapal, Jamie Raskin, Robert Garcia, and the Congressional Progressive Caucus.
An archived version of the site from June still had them.
Now, with 46 days until Election Day, those names are gone from the live endorsements page.
He didn’t dump them in private. A Sept. 7 fundraising email still featured Forstag next to Sanders and AOC and bragged that they backed him because they knew he was a “progressive brawler.”
So the website got a last-minute facelift. The fundraising pitch did not.
This is the same Forstag Republicans are hitting for lobbying work tied to the ACLU, the City of Bozeman, and the Provello Center. NRCC spokesman Christian Martinez put it bluntly:
“Socialist lobbyist Sam
Forstag can scrub Bernie Sanders and AOC off his website, but he cannot bleach them out of his political DNA. A last-minute campaign facelift won’t erase years of lobbying for far-left groups that fought to allow men to compete in women’s sports and allow sex changes to be performed on children without their parents’ permission, all while backing tax hikes that would hammer working Montana families.”
He’s also collecting moderate and even some former Republican legislator endorsements and a Blue Dog nod, the usual general-election rebrand. That doesn’t erase the primary coalition that got him here.
You can change a webpage. You can’t change who showed up for you when you needed the left most.
Montanans should look at the June archive, the September email, and the current site, then decide which version is the real Sam Forstag.
