Replying to @DrRosemaryKirk
@DrRosemaryKirk and @celinefsantiago have had a beautiful review published by @NatureCVR outlining the current landscape of therapeutic upregulation as applied to cardiomyopathy.

On 25th of September, International Ataxia Awareness Day, we at the Oxford-Harrington Rare Disease Centre stand together with the global Ataxia community on the path towards developing innovative therapeutic approaches.
Functional analysis of TTN uORFs shows that translational regulation is context dependent. tinyurl.com/TTNuORF
1. TTN uORF disruption increased luciferase reporter expression.
2. Endogenous TTN uORF editing using CRISPR/CAS-9 in iPSC-CMs did not increase titin protein.
Conclusions: 1. Although TTN uORFs show repression of expression, they do not measurably alter titin protein expression in the endogenous locus. 2. This highlights the importance of studying regulatory elements in native genomic context and the complexity of TTN regulation.

Thrilled to be the director of the new Center for Space Medicine Research at Cedars-Sinai! 🚀
We study the impact of spaceflight on cell function and harnessing microgravity to make unique bioproducts in space.
Come explore what we’re working on!

Can you imagine using water droplets to build diodes, transistors and even artificial neuron synapses?
Check out our new paper on #Dropletronics that was published on Science!

It’s a pleasure to have Rosie in the lab!
Rosie, 2nd PhD Student: "I mean, it's hard to think of somewhere better for science than Oxford. There's the facilities, there's just this environment of learning, and I've had nothing but support from my supervisors.”
Applications close on 3rd Dec.
