Indeed - massive redistribution of land ownership in the Highlands needed from the Lairds who starved and kicked native Highlanders off the land and the new Lairds who rule over their own personal playgrounds.
Calling all Scots and Irish: now that Andy is planning to hand out reparations, it’s time we demanded ours for the Highland Clearances too. History cannot be selective. I’ll take mine in land, thanks. We’ve been cleared out once already. A modest castle will do. I’m trying to be reasonable.

I’m disgusted by scenes of clearly pre-arranged violence in Meadow Well tonight carried out by a miniority of idiots. These thugs apparently thought they were attacking a planned HMO, when in fact, it was destined to be a Supermarket. This dangerous misinformation and the way it spreads has to be tackled and the stupidity has to stop- there is no excuse for it. @northumbriapol and @Tyne_Wear_FRS go to work every day to protect us. They deserve better than this and so do the residents of the Meadow Well who have had to endure it.

Rich, arrogant, entitled - why are they still revered?
There he is #BadDadKingCharles showing his true coloniser colours for a split second, visiting a black/brown country. Meanwhile royalists still try to say his ‘concerns’ about how dark Prince Harry and Meghan’s children would be was just excited curiosity.

THREE TINS OF FOOD AND A BAG OF CRISPS. THAT’S ALL THEY HAD LEFT. Today, Bramwell’s Hope visited a family of four who were desperately struggling to make ends meet. A mum, a dad and their two children. The mum is working, but unfortunately, her partner has been unable to work due to an injury, leaving the family struggling financially. When they reached out to us, they had just three tins of food and a bag of crisps left in the house. Imagine being a parent, going out to work, doing everything you can to provide for your children, and still finding yourself in a position where you have almost nothing left to feed them. But food wasn’t the only problem. The family’s gas and electricity were also on emergency credit, with just £2 remaining on the gas and £8 on the electricity. Today, we provided a substantial emergency food parcel and £90 towards their gas and electricity. We filled crates with essential food supplies to help the family get through the coming days, and made sure they had some much-needed support with their energy costs. This is the reality of poverty in our communities. These are working families. Parents trying their best. Children who deserve to have food in their cupboards and warmth in their homes. Nobody should be working and still worrying about whether they can afford to feed their children. And nobody should have to choose between putting food on the table and keeping the lights on. We cannot solve every problem this family is facing, but today we were able to take some of that pressure away. Food in their cupboards. £90 towards their energy. A little breathing space for a family who desperately needed it. This is why Bramwell’s Hope exists. To be there when people have nowhere else to turn. And to every single person who supports our work, particularly those donating just £1 per month, this is what your kindness makes possible. People helping people. #foodbank

The Crown Estate is worth £16.7 billion making £1.2 billion in profit last year. They're chasing out the UK's oldest Indian restaurant, Veeraswamy. The Crown Estate wants to refurbish the building and create a larger entrance for offices upstairs, allowing it to charge higher office rents. It says the work requires removing Veeraswamy’s separate entrance and cannot proceed with the restaurant remaining there. Veeraswamy disputes that eviction is necessary. Its owners say they have offered to share the enlarged entrance, accommodate the works and match the rent expected from office tenants. The Crown Estate has rejected those alternatives. The estate has offered around £500,000 compensation, while the owners estimate relocating would cost £5 million. Labour keeps talking about reviving our high streets. Yet here is Veeraswamy, a cultural landmark with a century of history, facing eviction so its landlord can command higher office rents. It reflects a familiar problem across the country: the places that give our high streets their character are sacrificed for greater returns. If Labour is serious about revival, protecting that heritage should be part of it. Any plans to step in and help @RNBlake (if you aren't already)?
Veeraswamy, the famous century-old Indian restaurant in Regent Street, London, begins its court battle today against the Crown Estate, the King’s property manager, which wants to force it to move. Veeraswamy offers some of the best Indian cooking anywhere on earth.

The Observer exclusively revealed Prince William's plans to sell the Bradninch Estate in Devon, which has been owned by the Duchy of Cornwall since 1337. Since publication the Duchy of Cornwall has apologised for any distress they have caused. But says the selling of the land supports Duchy strategy to invest into areas with the greatest need. Many of the tenant farmers and renters have lived on the land for generations and were told they could live there indefinitely. We hear from neighbours advocating for Duchy tenants now facing the choice to either buy the land they have been renting, or move out. Finally someone is tackling this! Dame Margaret Hodge, the government’s anti-corruption tsar, has exposed Prince William’s “extraordinarily murky” finances. He is attempting to “have his cake and eat it” because his empire is “private when it suits him and public when it suits him.” Tax experts confirm there is absolutely “no legal basis” for these massive tax exemptions. Why does a billionaire prince escape the rules that regular citizens must follow? #AbolishTheMonarchy #PrinceWilliam
