Clean energy “has been a good source of excellent jobs for IBEW and other unions in California,” Hunter Stern, ast. business manager for IBEW Local 1245, said at today’s Solar Symposium in Sacramento. Large-scale solar and storage projects provide a reliable source of jobs, and new transmission lines offer a unique win-win opportunity: They’re safer than live wires to train apprentices on, and apprentice labor means lower project costs, said Stern.
