I've been craving sugar since I stopped drinking two weeks ago.
Going to start being healthy but have given myself a bit of leeway since getting sober.
Tonight, my wife discovered my secret stash of chocolate.
Better than the bad old days of her finding booze!

After a sober month I had a 1% alcohol drink. No harm done, I thought.
Then after a sober weekend I rewarded myself with just one beer.
That turned to 4 yesterday.
I'm annoyed but I've learned a valuable lesson.
You can't cheat the system. Day 1.

I'm a level of mental and physical fatigue that only complete peace, quiet and relaxation can solve - and I don't have that luxury unfortunately.
Might be time to take up meditation! 🧘♂️

Went for a quiet drink today. Asked for a San Miguel 0% on draft.
He handed it me and I noticed the Estrella tap (next to the San Miguel) was dripping.
I checked before taking a sip it was definitely the 0% and he said "Sorry, wrong one!"
I laughed it off but Jesus Christ...

You can make amends without AA if the program doesn't work for you. Start with making amends to yourself, and sort out reasons from excuses. The best amends is changed behavior.
My wife and I are in a *much* better place since I quit drinking and she's far happier as a result.
She's proud of me. However, she said recently she wishes I had done AA and the steps to acknowledge the damage I caused drinking.
Given me a bit to think about.

So mentally fatigued at the moment.
I love my kids to bits, they're my world, but they're hard work (yet still delightful) at the moment.
Feels like a never ending cycle of kids-work-kids-work.
I know it's selfish but I'd love to grab a bit of time to myself.

68 hours into my water-only fast. Nothing but water since Sunday.
Just made the kids' tea and it's just about broken my resolve 😅
Anybody done a water detox?
I've read up on it and there seems to be a few physical and mental benefits to a water-only fast (with no food obviously) once in a while.
I'm currently 24 hours in and wondering whether to take it into a second day.

I have no memory of this night, only that it was in Newcastle.
I was still years away at this stage from realising alcohol was not my friend.
But this pic (no idea who took it) speaks 1,000 words.

Gave my mates a lift to a gig this evening.
They were having beers, looking forward to the night and I felt absolutely fine leaving them to it.
Gigs aren't my scene anymore. Too chaotic. Alcohol is in my past.
But they love me, I love them and it's all cool.
