Why is Notre Dame ranked 4th? What is their most impressive win? They quit on bowl season last year, convincing people they were robbed. In truth, they ducked the same BYU team they lost to last night. They didn’t beat a Top 15 team in 2025. Haven’t beat one in 2026 either.

NASCAR went from the second most watched sport to nothing by implementing postseason gimmicks and chasing a mainstream audience. They tried to undo it but they had their lowest ratings ever for the 2025 title race. I never thought we’d see another sport be so shortsighted.

Sources: The College Football Playoff is nearing a deal to expand to 24 teams, per sources. The new format will start in 2027 and is expected to come together in the near future, pending final approvals.

The thing about 24 that bothers me most is… Who is this for? It’s not because TV was begging for it. ESPN had to be convinced. It’s not for a boatload of new cash. Losing conf champ games is gonna make this a minimal gain. It’s not because the 22nd team has any shot at a natty. It doesn’t. It’s certainly not done with the health, safety, or academic success of the players in mind since they don’t even get a say in this. It’s entirely to appease the people donating the money that keeps a financially irresponsible business model afloat. It’s discounting success so schools can say “look what your donation bought.” It’s an industry hellbent on treating investors and bosses as the customer, and customers as an infinite resource that will keep coming back no matter what.

A 24-team playoff isn't the end of the world for me, but it's another example that the people running the sport have absolutely no clue what it is fans actually like about college football.

And within two years, coaches will lose jobs after first-round losses. But the good news is, the added money isn’t great either since they’re ditching conference title games!

Blowing up the regular season, against the wishes of almost all fans, just to assuage the egos of a handful of donors placate coaches worried about losing their 8-million-dollar jobs. What a waste.

People spent 16 years begging for the BCS to get bigger. They resisted. People spent a decade begging for the CFP to expand beyond 4. They resisted. For the first time ever, people are saying "We like it at the size it is, really." They blew it up within 3 years.
