From the Red Sea to the Great Barrier Reef, nearly all assessed shallow-water coral reef ecosystems face an extremely high risk of collapse within 50 years. Collapse means hard corals almost disappear and algae, rubble and sponges take over. #CoralReefs #COP17Armenia

🚨🚨🎙️| Harry Kane delivers an emotional tribute to his parents, wife and children after winning the 2026 Ballon d’Or! ❤️🏆 To his mum and dad: “What a moment. All those years, the sacrifice you gave me, the support you gave me, the times taking me to training, coming to watch me play, all around England, all around Germany, no matter where it was, even to this day you're there.” “There was never any pressure from you to become a footballer. It was always about working hard, it was always about improving, it was always about learning.” “I love you. Thank you very much.” To his children: “To Ivy, Vivian, Louis and Henry, you're the reason I do this.” “I want to set a good example, being a father, but also being a professional and what it means to work hard, what it means to believe in yourself. I love you very much.” To his wife Katie: “My best friend. We've been through ups and downs, for sure. You're my biggest supporter.” “Here it is. We've done it. You've always done the best for me. You sacrificed yourself to help me achieve my dreams.” “This is a trophy that we celebrate, not me. It's me and you. It's all the family.” “I love you.” ❤️

JUST IN: Google forced to halt work in Finland after illegally clearing 250,000 trees for a new data center, according to the Guardian. Every tree that occupied the 815-acre site just a few months ago is now gone. The Finnish Licensing and Supervision Authority (LVV) has ordered Google to stop work on the Muhos and Otanmäki sites after it cut down the trees before the environmental impact assessment was completed. Google’s Finland manager, Antti Järvinen, has apologized but says they were acting on "the best understanding we had of the legislation at the time." Muhos and Otanmäki are a $17 billion Google AI project. President Trump has criticized Google for taking the projects overseas instead of investing in the United States.

“Largest heat wave of 1960s reached 6% of planet & lasted 46 days. Largest heat wave this decade swept >85% of the globe during 367-days. Reuters calls massive heat waves that cover at least 1% of the planet, “heat storms,” & they have expanded dramatically in number & size.”

BREAKING: 96% of coral reef ecosystems found to be Critically Endangered, according to a new assessment from @IUCN. But things are not without hope. Most of these corals are still alive, and we can still avert disaster if urgent action is taken. bit.ly/4yB1sfA

At #COP17Armenia, countries must turn the first global review of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework into stronger action for nature. That means closing implementation gaps, strengthening finance, involving all stakeholders, and improving collaboration across global agreements. 🔗 IUCN’s positions: link in comments

Ecological integrity can tell us how well a natural place is still working, and if it can recover from the shocks coming its way. A new report from IUCN explains how to put ecological integrity into conservation policy and practice. Read the report by clicking the link in the comments. @TheWCS @MooreFound

I met with Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen @Statsmin. We discussed in detail the threats of Russian escalation, particularly against our energy infrastructure. It is clear that Russia has taken signals about easing sanctions as a green light to continue waging war against residential buildings, substations, and any other infrastructure that sustains normal life. Right now, it is critically important for everyone in Europe to mobilize to strengthen protection against this brutal terror ahead of winter. Air defense is the top priority, first and foremost anti-ballistic defense and everything that helps intercept jet-powered “shaheds.” We also discussed how Denmark can help provide financial support for our resilience. We agreed that our teams will continue working at their level. We appreciate that we can always count on Denmark. Thank you, Mette!
