Sad stuff @USGA - we have totally lost the soul of what amateur golf was meant to be. Need a total overhaul of this.
You've seen "The Shot," "The Concession," and "The Chip" in golf. This is "The Shake."

US mid former-pros
Based on my initial research there are 81 (eighty one) former professional golfers playing in the United States Mid-Amateur. That is 30.7% of the field! 👍

Being a Team USA golf fan must be how it feels to be a Jets fan.

Watched Open from 10-11am — 30 min of Sky and 30 min of NBC and tracked shots shown, commercial time, average time showing pre shot routines. Here is what I found- thread CC: @TronCarterNLU @NoLayingUp 👇👇

4/ Time watching pre shot routines Sky does a better jump jumping to shots close to when they happen or showing replay shots w/less pre shot time. Youll always see some longer pre shots on live shots. But Sky gets us to avg of 8.1 sec of pre shot routine and NBC is at 10.1.

5/ So if youre watching for 5 hrs today you can expect the following w/ Sky 140 more shots shown Around an hour less commercials 2 sec less pre shot routine per shot shown. If you like watching actual golf shots the choice for where to watch is easy

NBC and Fox Sports asking why people are watching Sky Sports feed for Open and Telemundo for World Cup over their domestic coverage. @NoLayingUp

They really dont need to. We left on the 8pm train Fri and they added an additional service for weekend. Now most dont want to get to NYC at midnight&some may still need to get to NJ or Westchester after but there are plenty of trains… people are just choosing to flee Wyndham
Truly the only whiff of the U.S. Open at Shinnecock is just how early fans have to leave to catch the last train back to the city. They are just POURING for the exits right now and the leaders are on Hole 6.

Hey @NoLayingUp - thoughts on Morikawa and English being -5.8 SG in foursomes over two days. Seemed impossible to predict this considering data told us they were the worst possible pairing. #Sticktotheplan

Since 1985 Ryder Cup records (assuming an L this year which is inevitable) Overall: Euro: 14-6 US: 6-14 In Europe: Euro: 9-1 US: 1-9 In US: Euro: 5-5 US: 5-5 Utter domination by Europe in this comp. Maybe a country vs a continent isn’t the best matchup?!? @NoLayingUp

If we aren’t going to care about this comp let’s go back to playing GB & I or forfeit and play a mixed event. I’m sick of feeling like fans care more about Ryder Cup than players, captains or PGA of America. One massive money grab is how it feels. Winning? Whatever. @NoLayingUp

Stat of day 1 SG putting: Europe +4.6 U.S. -4.6 It kind of is “just make putts.” No penalty for missed tee shots, distance non factor for the most part. Just explain how Europe (who doesn’t have better putters statistically) always out putts the U.S. @NoLayingUp @DJPie

Tickets are like 2k cheapest I saw in last year was 800. What “passionate” fan is going for that price. You’re gonna get the 800-5k fans. Not the 100-300 dollar fans.

The path to profit on Sunday of Tour Champ… fade Pat and Tommy. This strategy guarantees profit if they both lose. Hit fairly big return if Scottie wins, very big if Keegan wins. Laid small amount to test the theory. @TronCarterNLU @NoLayingUp

I agree this is actually something they have nailed. It’s one of the only LIV things I find intriguing. PGA tour under new leadership should take note and figure out how to replicate this in some way.
This LIV team championship is some of the most exciting golf I’ve seen all year. There’s just nothing like it outside of the Ryder/Presidents cup. Not gonna sit here and say it’s as good but it’s definitely fun

Replying to @CoachAdamTurner
If we play 6,500 yards she'd win 99 times out of 100 probably. If we played 7,200 yards... maybe she'd win 90-95 times out of 100? I dunno, could still be more. But the distance you play could have an impact on the outcome. Depends on style of play of the scratch player.
