For a year, @SandoNFL and I dove into what actually goes on in an NFL headset, and the vast networks that make every play possible - hidden in plain sight. Then, the best visuals team in the world made it tangible. A project unlike any you’ve seen: nytimes.com/athletic/interac…

MTSU went for 4th-and-10 leading by 3 and got it, basically ending the game. Gutsy.

DO YOUR JOB “One of the things I liked most about working for you,” Saban said to Belichick, “I knew exactly what to expect [and] what you expected from me. I worked other places and that was never, ever clearly defined. It’s amazing to me how many people work with or for someone and it’s just assumed that they know what you’d like them for them to do. I thought that whether it was the players that we brought to the team, the people that worked in personnel or whatever, you defined for them and then you let them do their job.”

Folks have short memories. When Memphis fired Tommy West in November 2009, he told the room: "Put something in it or do away with it, one or the other." Memphis put something in it. But let's not pretend this program has produced consistently for decades. In 2003, they broke a 32-year (!!) bowl drought. This is an athletic department boosted by basketball, saved by conference alignment at prioritized TV markets over strong football tradition.
Memphis honestly should be Power 4 already. • 112 wins since 2014 (10th in FBS) • 70 home wins (T-5th in FBS) • 12 straight bowl appearances (1 of 7 FBS programs) • 10 ranked wins since 2015 (most among non-P4) • 51st-largest TV market • $73M annual athletic budget • $226.5M stadium renovation • $25M FedEx NIL commitment • 29 NCAA Tournament appearances What more does Memphis have to do?
