The college softball recruiting process is not for the faint of heart. It’s a journey filled with highs and lows, excitement and disappointment, opportunities and setbacks. If you want to play at the next level, one quality will separate you from the rest—resilience. You’ll send emails that go unanswered. You’ll attend camps where you don’t get the attention you hoped for. You might get told “no” more than you ever expected. But here’s the truth: every great player faces rejection. Every successful athlete has been overlooked at some point. Resilience is what keeps you moving forward when things don’t go your way. It’s what pushes you to keep improving, to send that next email, to show up to the next tournament with the same passion and drive. Coaches aren’t just looking for talent—they’re looking for athletes who can handle adversity, who can take feedback, and who will keep working even when things get tough. If you truly want this, don’t let one “no” define your journey. Let it fuel you.
