I 100% agree with you. If the head coach sets the precedent to not do it fine. If not, speak what’s on your mind if you think it’s for the benefit of the team. A lot in this thread miss the fact that some players need that motivation. And motivation can come from others.

1. It doesn't have to be about a position group, it could be about practice in general. 2. If they have a problem with practice, why does it have to wait to addressed by the HC? 3. Saying something doesn't have to be rah rah. 4. Are you a HC?

Agree with this. When I had the opportunity to script practice, I wanted to create problems for the defense to solve that they may see in a game. I never wanted to script the perfect call to defeat a specific offensive play. That’s a waste of time.
This is one hell of a quote from UCLA HC Bob Chesney on practice “The leading cause of success is well managed failure” Chesney understands that the old saying “perfect practice makes perfect” is 100% false, and that a certain amount of failing in practice is what makes you Improve. If you don’t fail, you don’t have to problem solve, and Football is a game of problem solving So many coaches don’t fully grasp this concept and I am now even more impressed with Chesney than I already was. UCLA got an absolute stud

Between this and the performance coaches, I’m bout done with all yall. Most of you speak from theory, sometimes science influenced but not completely because some will discredit other scientific evidence. Some things just work. Not everything can be explained.
Hot take: these speeches don't have anywhere near the impact people think they do. I love a good pregame/halftime speech. I'll watch them all day long. But from an athlete/performance perspective? Not much impact. What matters more is who the coach is during the week.

I don’t disagree with this. I don’t think he’s saying just line up and play cover 3. But if you get really good at cover 3 and showing it different ways to disguise and all those are the good defenses. Better to be elite at 10 things than average at 20.
Kyle Shanahan says great defenses shouldn't have to trick their opponents “Coverages are coverages. Fronts are fronts. It’s very rare that a team just does something nobody else does. They just do it better.” “You try to find ways to attack it, and you can always come up with some new ways in the offseason, but usually a new way has to do with putting a different player in a different spot and finding a better matchup.” “Seattle is pretty much the same scheme with a lot of the same players, especially at the pivotal spots. They’re into what they do. There’s no reason for them to change.” “They don’t have to trick too many people. They’re very sound at what they do, and they’re very good at what they do. They make you line up and play.” “It’s similar to how we were in 2019. Everybody knew what we were doing, but we were really good at it, we had really good players doing it, and we did it over and over again.” “That’s the best way to build a defense. You don’t have to get lucky with calls or put guys in risky positions.”

I don’t disagree. I don’t think either way is necessarily wrong but in the midst of snapping like that, you could be missing out on something else important as well.
Dre Greenlaw just did something stupid and was ejected from the game. Notice Kyle Shanahan didn’t go running up to him to cuss him out. I’m only pointing this out because there was a lot of discussion about Kalen DeBoer crashing out on Dijon Lee after his crucial mistake. I don’t think what DeBoer did is a big deal but some of you were saying that this should be expected because college players are being paid. Can’t treat them as “kids” anymore. Well if the comparison is the pros, NFL coaches don’t rip players publicly that often after big mistakes. Why? Because they know they’re dealing with grown men. They usually correct in private because you don’t want to publicly embarrass a player you’ve invested millions in. Part of being a coach is managing egos. College players should certainly be expected to be criticized differently by the public and media now that they’re being paid. But if you think coaches will have the license to take off on players publicly now … well that ain’t exactly how it works, either.

I like it for the players to get that experience to play there. Outside of that I agree. Good experience for the kids though that not everyone gets
My personal opinion. Can we be done w/ HS games at UD? The stadium looks empty..,no crowd noise…can’t hear the band on tv…tickets are almost $20 w/ fees…The idea of it was great…but it didn’t work. Just my opinion…Thoughts?

"Now he calls it quits, not before the season. Not in the offseason…four games into the 2026 season, a dude that has been in the league forever, sits back and says I need to focus on my mental health" – Stephen A. Smith on Lane Johnson retiring

The NFL has rescinded the $14,926 fine it imposed on 49ers FB Kyle “Juice” Juszczyk for what it thought was a distasteful celebration of chugging a beer. The league said it was withdrawing the fine “because his celebration was simulating drinking a juice box, not a beer….Mr. Juszczyk finally stated that the fine is hypocritical with the amount of Bud Light sponsorships surrounding the NFL.” Fine rescinded.

Honest question to get insight. HS coaches with a run heavy team, like run run heavy. Do y'all try to get your WR's the ball in various ways like jet sweeps, or put them at RB to help some of them get film? Or are they just SOL and pretty much say this aint the school for you?

Put Aaron Donald at fullback and let him run through someone

This is just a bad fit….they have a tackler he fits completely wrong. If you spin a safety down then you will lose a fitter somewhere else to keep a sound defense.
We are witnessing the death of the split safety defense. Multiple TE sets, more downhill running and just about everything that Buster Faulkner is doing will force a change by DCs.….. eventually

How about in shotgun RB in side gun, motions forward and then laterally and ball snapped before they’re set. Happens every week. Same thing

That @DavidsonFB tackle is not dirty….. where else should he hit there? WR momentum going forward, chest is blocked, don’t want to hit high because that’s targeting, you have to aim low. I feel bad he tore his knee. Yall favorite teams/players have some of those tackles..
