Men, far too many of you grown man your way out of jobs. Don’t confuse being held accountable for being disrespected as a man. Far too many, can’t be told anything, no matter how it’s said & use I’m a man 1st as a shield to avoid accountability. Do your job, Man up. I learned.

PLAYERS: Your coach shouldn't have to beg you to be unselfish, provide energy, have a good attitude, or give your best effort. Those are all things you can control. That is what a winning teammate brings to a team. Great teams have great teammates.

What would be his biggest tip to young athletes trying to get to the next level?
“A lot of people work hard…
it’s the people that work hard & are able to stack nutrition & sleep & those things on top of it.”

As an AD, I constantly remind our coaches what a captain really is. It is not always your best player, even though that is the ideal. It is the player who lives out your program’s culture every single day. The one who holds teammates accountable, shows up and works, puts the team first, and does the little things right when no one is watching.
A captain is not just a talented kid who makes plays. It is the standard everyone else should follow.

It’s not about me, it’s about us!
Leaders know it’s not about them. When you win or things go well, it’s because of your people. When you lose or things go wrong, it’s because of you.
Great leaders always give the praise and take all of the blame. They support their people and serve their needs. They’re not afraid of taking accountability or responsibility.
Jesus is the ultimate model of this. All we need to do is to look to Him to see what this looks like played out.
Leadership is a huge responsibility that should not be taken lightly. It’s your job to love and inspire others, and help them to see their value and to feel that value. Lead humbly. Serve greatly. Love deeply.
Be a leader worth following….because it’s their choice to follow you!

Urban Meyer said, "It's so easy to be average."
"Did you push yourself to be great today? If you didn't do it, you lost today. We don't have many days to lose."
Excellence isn't the goal - it's the standard you set.
Successful people look to compete every day.

Loyal assistant coaches matter more than most people realize.
They support the vision.
They protect the culture.
They tell you the truth.
Great programs aren’t built by one coach.
They’re built by a loyal staff that pulls in the same direction.
Definition of Loyalty. Happy Birthday brother. #UrOld

Successful programs don’t exist because thier kids are magically different. Kids haven’t fundamentally changed. What separates consistently successful programs across Texas is community alignment.
In places that win year after year, football is not just a team activity — it’s a community standard. Parents reinforce expectations at home. Businesses support the program. The town celebrates discipline, effort, and accountability. The message players hear at practice is the same message they hear at dinner, in classrooms, and around town.
When that alignment exists, athletes understand that buying into the culture isn’t optional. It becomes the norm. The environment shapes behavior long before a coach ever blows a whistle.

As a coach hearing "thank you" is great but not always necessary. The REAL THANK YOU comes from seeing your players succeed on and off the field. Seeing that buy in and success keeps coaches motivated.
Keep rowing that boat coaches. Lives are changing due to our impact.

You were not born a winner or a loser. You were born a chooser. The choices you make every day add up and you become the sum of those decisions. If you’re not happy with that, change your life - one decision at a time.

Players who do their own thing in the weight room, will do their own thing in games.
You want your coaches (and teammates), to know that you're fully committed, and ALL IN?!
Show up early, do the team workouts, go above & beyond, and empower others to do the same!
