Recruits! Read this! Recruiting STARTS your freshman year!
A D2 coordinator posted something that should scare every recruit reading this. His school’s database held 50,000+ recruits for a single class. One class. One year. 50,000 names. He can’t watch 50,000 highlight tapes. Nobody can. So he doesn’t try. He eliminates. Fast. Every coach runs a checkbox system before he presses play on your film. Checkbox 1 is size. You can’t control height, but weight is 100% on you. If you’re undersized for your position, every other box has to be perfect just to survive the cut. Checkbox 2 is position need. A coach can love your film and still cut you if he already took 3 quarterbacks in your grad year. Zero room left. That’s why sending 100 messages to one level is a losing bet. Fire wide across every level. Some staff has a hole at your spot right now. Checkbox 3 is grades, and it’s the one most families ignore. Below FBS, academic money stacks on top of athletic money. A 3.5 GPA kid is cheaper to offer than a 2.5 GPA kid with the same exact film. Talent gets you recruited. Grades get you offered. Aim for a 3.0 minimum, and know that 3.5+ often maxes your offer. Check your NCAA core GPA, not your transcript number. Core excludes PE and electives. Floors are 2.3 for D1 and 2.2 for D2. Checkbox 4 is your X profile. When a coach hears your name, he searches X, not Google. He gives you about 30 seconds to prove you’re worth the click. A helmet photo, no measurables, and a bare Hudl link gets you cut before he ever opens your film. Only after all of that does he reach checkbox 5: your first 5 plays. A D1 recruiter and a director of player personnel both told me the same number. 30 seconds. 3 to 5 plays before he decides. Order your best play first, because there is no later. Notice the order here. Size, position need, grades, X profile, then film. Film is dead last. Most recruits obsess over their highlight tape and fail every box that comes before it. And here’s the part that flips this whole thing. You can pass every single box and still get skipped, because he simply forgot you exist. A coach needs to see your name about 7 times before it sticks. One message is not a strategy. It’s hope.

Coaching is teaching…What does a good teacher look like? 1) They have incredible patience 2) They understand it isn't what they know that matters, it's the information the student can retain and use skillfully that makes them an effective teacher 3) They know that all students learn differently and adjust accordingly to how their students learn 4) They communicate with different tones and different patterns as “boredom” will set in when everyday, every message, every movement sounds and feels the same. 5) They continue to learn from their students because the greatest teacher to them is the ones they've taught 6) They are open to criticism and know they aren't always right 7) They respect the unique histories of every students background and realize we all are who we are because of the backgrounds we were born into and our only influences are the unique circumstances we lived separately from any other humans lived experiences 8) Their greatest gift is the moment they see the student finally “get it”…finally master a task they believed was impossible… and for that single moment all the frustration was worth it

Follow your heart coach!
Wanted to let everyone know, now, because it’s starting to go public. Went to In N Out yesterday after being committed to CFA for a few hours. Just want to thank both franchises for the incredible opportunity.

It always starts up front!
The Offensive Line doesn’t need any other position to be good. Every other position needs the Offensive Line to be good. The most important position group in football.

3 Coaching Truths: 1. Culture isn’t what you say, it’s what you allow. 2. Leadership isn’t a title, it’s a responsibility. 3. Tough teams aren’t born, they’re built every day. Great teams don’t happen by accident. They’re built on purpose.

Players, If your coach moves you to a different position, don’t take it personally. He’s probably not moving you away from the field, he’s trying to find the spot that gives you the best chance to get on it. Trust the process. Compete.

Parents, good stuff here!
🚨 Parents of High School Football Recruits One of the biggest mistakes I see in recruiting is when parents try to take over the process instead of supporting it College coaches are evaluating much more than film, statistics, and athletic ability. They are evaluating how a prospect communicates, handles adversity, interacts with others, and whether the family will be a positive fit within the program Over the years, I have seen talented players miss opportunities because of poor communication, unrealistic expectations, social media issues, constant parental involvement, or simply a lack of understanding of how recruiting actually works Some of the biggest mistakes parents make: 🔹 Speaking for their son during the recruiting process 🔹 Contacting coaches excessively 🔹 Treating camp invites as scholarship offers 🔹 Inflating height, weight, or testing numbers 🔹 Comparing their son to other recruits 🔹 Focusing too much on rankings and social media attention 🔹 Ignoring academic requirements 🔹 Chasing every camp without a recruiting plan 🔹 Becoming overly focused on NIL or one specific level of football 🔹 Creating unnecessary drama with coaches, programs, or teammates A camp invite is not an offer. Rankings do not determine a player’s future. More camps do not automatically lead to more opportunities. And playing at the highest level possible is not always the same as finding the right fit The best recruiting families: ✅ Allow their son to take ownership of the process ✅ Communicate professionally and respectfully ✅ Focus on academics as much as football ✅ Stay realistic about recruiting opportunities ✅ Trust the evaluation process ✅ Keep the focus on long term development and fit Parents should focus on helping their son become the best student, athlete, and young man possible. Be supportive, be realistic, trust the process, and allow your son to take ownership of his recruitment The families that navigate recruiting the best are usually the ones who stay humble, stay professional, and understand that recruiting is about finding the right fit, not winning a popularity contest 🏈 At the end of the day, the goal is not to win recruiting. It is to help your son find the right school, earn a degree, continue playing football, and create opportunities that will benefit him long after his playing days are over

THIS!!! Successful coaches know this is the key to ANY offensive scheme! Anyone can draw up formations, route schemes, plays, but do they understand what it takes upfront? August to December it's 11 on 11. Those 5/6 up front lead the way to December!
It’s always all about the OL…Most important ingredient in preparing for the 2026 season 1) OL Pad Level…Win the game of leverage and you win the 1 on 1….Win the 1 on 1 and u get the first down…Get the first down and u win the game 2) The more OL on the field during every game as season progresses, the more wins…Create 6,7,8 OL on the field at once with unique formations…the more who play the better the camaraderie , better camaraderie equals more wins 3) The more positive public recognition to OL creates effort beyond realistic imagination…Praise the group, the individual, who never gets public praise 4) Reward full speed aggressive great leverage ass whipping finishes …. Even if wrong assignment… encourage a confident assignment free of worry by teaching that if miss an assignment , that’s human and forgivable, just miss it with an ass kicking fundamental victory of the wrong defender…Everyone will make a mistake… just make it with perfect violence and technique 5) Design every game plan with the most important ingredient being that it creates success for your OL…Mixture of concepts…Pocket Move, screen, Misdirection Run RPO, Max Protect, Plan to handle the defenses “War Daddy” early in the plan Remember…Want incredible success…It’s always about the OL
