I cannot count the number of times that I have read the book of James and every time I do, I struggle with "count it all joy.." But reading this helps me grasp the concept a little better. yourmove.is/joy-in-hardship/

At the risk of awakening many of you who are IU fans, I know there were missed calls on both sides during Saturday’s game. However, I have heard many college football commentators that I truly respect. Talk about the perfect timing of the hit on this deep ball. I beg to differ.

I’m admittedly not a fan of Stephen A. much of the time. But agree with my man @GarrettSearight totally here. Much respect to SAS for this!
I give SAS a bunch of credit here. 1) Hardly anyone admits when they’re wrong today. Huge issue. 2) I didn’t care about what he said yesterday. Because he’s going to say dumb stuff sometimes. He’s on the air talking ALL THE TIME.

Steve Kerr shares that one of the most valuable things he's learned as a coach is to stop beating himself up after failure. "I've had to unlearn the tendency to beat myself up after failure...I'm going to lose. I'm going to make poor decisions that I regret later. But losing sleep over them and beating myself up is not at all productive." A lot of coaches are great at helping players recover from mistakes, but many struggle to extend that same grace to themselves. You can prepare relentlessly, care deeply, and still make decisions you wish you could take back. The question isn't whether you'll make mistakes. Every coach does. Similar to athletes, the question is how you'll choose to respond after them...For your players and yourself. 📹: Consello

Shaka Smart sends recruits a 26-page document before they ever visit campus. Here's how he defines culture and why it works. "We send them our culture doc. It's 26 pages that lays out who we want to be - who we strive every day to become." "Culture is simply how we act, interact, and respond. That's it." Culture isn't what you say - it's your behaviors and what you do when it counts. It's always changing based on what's happening. "You can have stuff up on the wall, but if it's just words on paper, it doesn't really matter. Our job is to bring it to life." "The most important component is the people in our room." It's always about the people. They define whether there is character, teamwork, and resilience on a daily basis (🎥Marquette University)

Kurt Warner shares the lesson that changed his entire career and it applies to everything. He sat on the bench for 4 years in college. When a friend asked the coaches why he wasn't playing, the answer wasn't what he expected: "The reason I wasn't playing was because I was not very good in practice." His first reaction? Allen Iverson mode. "Practice? What're you talking about, practice?" But then he did the math. "In college we play 12 games in 365 days. In the NFL we play 16 games in 365 days." That's less than 5% of your year. "95% of our lives are lived in practice. And the biggest impression we make on people, the way people can understand and really realize who we are, is what we do every day in practice." This is the 95% Rule. And it applies to everything - sports, business, relationships, life. 1: Show Up With Your Best Effort - Compete and give your best every single day. People can't question how you show up - your effort, attitude, and actions. Consistency removes doubt. 2: Trust Is Built In Practice, Not Games - Trust is earned in the thousands of moments before it's given. Before you can be trusted, people want to know you're dependable. Every day. Not just when it matters. 3: Master Daily Consistency - Success isn't about intensity - it's about consistency. Your habits compound. What you do daily defines who you become. 4: Big Moments Are Earned In Small Moments - The little details make the biggest difference. Greatness starts with preparation - it's earned in the boredom of doing the work when no one's watching. Excellence isn't an event - It's a habit. Practice is where trust is built. How you show up daily is who you really are. (🎥 @pttorch) (🎥@kurt13warner)

The WNBA was vulnerable. That’s how we got to all the coverage about the league being political.
If you think the #WNBA has gotten too political then you can thank 'the culture war' says @GarrettSearight. What do you think?

AMEN!!!!
As an Athletic Director, you better learn quickly that if you don’t understand your school’s foundation is academics, you will constantly face internal struggles with teachers and other administrators. At the same time, the best schools also understand that athletics is the front porch of the school. It is often the first thing prospective families see and experience. When schools intentionally invest in both academics and athletics, everyone benefits. Strong academics build the mission of the school, while strong athletic programs build community, school pride, visibility, and relationships that extend far beyond the playing field. The schools that truly excel are the ones that stop viewing academics and athletics as competing priorities and instead recognize that they are partners in creating an exceptional student experience. Great schools don’t choose one over the other. They commit to both.
