I tell our guys all the time that on my college visit how I impressed a coach was not my ability but when I held the door for my mother, took my hat off in the building and said yes “sir.” When I sat down in the office for my offer I still remember the coach listing those things.

Someone needs to clip that video of Brad driving from 30th to 1st in half a lap with ZERO help because everyone else is max fuel saving. Dude looked like he set the Ai difficulty slider to the lowest level on NASCAR 26

I heard a high school coach say, "I'm just coaching for a paycheck."
If you're coaching high school sports just for a paycheck, you're coaching for the wrong reasons.

Julius Chestnut has never been drafted and has never started an NFL game.
Three Marches in a row, Tennessee has re-signed him to a one year contract. One year at a time, every time.
Yesterday he blocked the punt that gave the Titans their first win of the season.
Here is the whole thing.
He grew up in Bowie, Maryland, and his father Keith ran a landscaping company.
Julius worked it. Before school some mornings, and all the way through the summers. Hot, hard, outdoor work. He also has bad allergies.
"It taught me lessons about sacrificing, and competing."
His father put him in Little League with kids who were older than him. He started school a year early instead of being held back a year.
Before ninth grade his parents moved him to a private school that was a 45 minute drive each way, which meant leaving every friend he had.
"My dad said that brings out the best of me."
Nobody in the top division of college football offered him anything. He went to Sacred Heart, which plays a level down, and ran for 3,467 yards and 29 touchdowns and was named the best offensive player in his conference.
Then he went undrafted.
Tennessee signed him anyway. They cut him that October. Three days later they put him back on the practice squad. In December they moved him up again.
And every March since, a one year deal.
So he made himself impossible to cut. Last season he led the Titans in special teams tackles with 17, the most by anybody on that team in fifteen years.
Here is what his special teams coordinator John Fassel says he is good at.
"Everything, everything, I mean everything."
"He is one of the best I've ever had."
Fassel has been coordinating special teams for 18 years. He says Chestnut put up the highest special teams point total of any player he has ever had.
"I've been an underdog my whole life, but I've always been someone who is willing to work."
Now yesterday.
Tennessee had lost every game it played. They were down 13 to nothing and then they were tied at 13 in the fourth quarter.
Indianapolis lined up to punt.
Chestnut came through and got a hand on it. Oluwafemi Oladejo picked it up in the end zone.
Tennessee 26, Indianapolis 20.
Now the honest part. He did not score and he did not touch the ball on offense. Oladejo got the touchdown, and a kicker made four field goals to actually win it. A blocked punt is one play by one of the men nobody can name.
But here is the thing about the man who taught him to work.
His father still drives over to his house to cut the grass and lay the mulch.
"My dad always says he'd bet on me every time, in anything I do."
