If a fully rested Washington Commanders team can't beat this version of the Philadelphia Eagles on short rest at home on Sunday night football...you got major problems.

When #Illini HC Bret Bielema was in high school, he thought he'd play college football at D3 Augustana. But his father, Arnie, encouraged him to chase the biggest opportunities possible.
Bielema came home after school and found a letter on his bed from his dad, who passed away this weekend.
It said, "What you conceive in your mind and believe in your heart you will achieve."
"I tattooed (the quote) on my calf when I was at the University of Iowa," said Bielema.
Arnie, who sold sporting goods, used his connections to help get Bret at Iowa football camps and be discovered.
Bielema would walk on at Iowa, become a team captain and play in the Rose Bowl. After his collegiate career, he started his coaching career at Iowa.
Bielema said, "I just think about where I am now, 56 years of age. The decision he helped me make when I was 18, without helping me make it, he let me kind of come to that decision, has affected my life forever."

An unparalleled run by the greatest to ever do it in college football
Funny and true
That 12 year old also needs to spend time at home on the weekends with his family instead of traveling the country at tournaments that line promoters pockets who are selling false college dreams. Less than 7% will play in college.
Indeed it is important!
John Harbaugh took over a last-place Giants team that had endured double-digit loss totals in eight of the past nine seasons.
Now they’re first in the NFC East and have matched their win total from last season.
Despite losing their starting QB, sack leader and leading tackler to injuries.
Coaching is important.

On the cover of @BaltSunSports today:
Baltimore’s own Jesse Legree, the Oregon State freshman phenom.
His dad considered taking out a bank loan to get Jesse Legree a shot at college football. His grandmother remembers him saying, “Nobody wants me.”
Now the Baltimore native leads the FBS in receiving yards and TDs — and he’s staying at Oregon State.

Fun note about @PTI: Everyday, Tony Kornheiser preps for the show by taking written, long-hand notes in cursive on a yellow legal pad — one page for each A block story and 1/2 page for each B Block topic.
These should be on-display in the @smithsonian in DC. #PTI25

UCLA’s Bob Chesney on the roots of his leadership philosophy:
Growing up at a small Catholic high school, he learned how belief can help teams overcome more talented opponents.
“Never were we the better team, but we played better than a lot of teams.”
Now, he studies leadership styles to find the right message for each moment. Ahead of facing Wisconsin, that message was: Are you the hunter or the hunted?
