Let's go Buffalo!!! Tyler Scheving wins the 800m at the Bryan Clay Invite at 1:48.70 – at Monrovia, CA
TWO absolutely game changing commitments for the Manhattan Jaspers men’s distance squad this week!!! ☘️☘️
Already excited for 2027. This program is making moves!
This morning, I burnt the shit out of my thumb while taking my kids’ Pop Tarts out of the toaster (molten lava in those things). Then, I had to clean up two dead birds that my cat presented to me while I was riding my bike in the garage. Ugh.
How many other D1 Head Coaches are still grinding out phone calls to 9:36 3200m guys?
How am I still getting “big-timed” by kids who aren’t finishing in the top 50 of their state?
I can either build my program with 9:45 guys from NJ or sub 9:00 guys from Europe.
25 years ago, I read that The Smiths were a huge influence on basically all of my favorite bands.
I spent the last few decades trying to get into their stuff, but I couldn’t get past how depressing Morrissey’s voice and lyrics were.
Well, today I decided it’s not so bad.
XC times are irrelevant. I hate colleges that promote “school records” for XC (just go to a short course and everyone will be happy!) NO ONE is giving you a scholarship for running a time in XC. Stop talking about your XC PR! Who’s measuring the course? Strava? I’m so sick of it.

I just overheard a guy bragging about racing a half marathon in 1:20… We used to call that “Wednesday”.
Rant:
I went to Charlie’s middle school track meet last week. No team scores. Individual results were posted (privately) online 3 days later. Kids were thrown into lanes without any thought of competition. Long breaks between each heat and longer breaks between events.
(1/?)
Why would anyone stay with the sport? They’re told by administration that it’s just for “fun” and not a real competition. Why is competition too stressful for a track athlete but not any other sport? Too costly to use the scoreboard for track, but not baseball?
