New preprint: In ~38k people, general cognitive function ('g') is supported by a widely distributed white matter network, spanning all cortical lobes + key subcortical structures, with long-range inter-lobar connections playing a key role. Effects strengthen with age.

Mapping connectomes with tractography?
Check out this thread on our work evaluating tractogram filters: SIFT, LiFE, COMMIT
Filters improve connectome accuracy, but improvement is modest for complex fiber architectures

1/5 Working with whole brain tractograms is challenging. Don't miss this new paper to learn more about why 👉 sciencedirect.com/science/ar… Another difficult thing is to compare different #tractography algorithms 👇

I have a new preprint! psyarxiv.com/62txs
If a brain structure is associated with a cognitive task, how much of this is related to a specific cognitive domain, and how much of this is complicated by the existence of 'general intelligence' or g?🧐

In the next session, Anna Fürtjes (@Anna_Furtjes) provides systematic and quantitative evidence on the extent to which atlas choice affects findings and likely contributes to to lack of reproducibility in atlas-based research. Poster 2411

Jo Moodie (@JoannMoodie) has been looking at spatial correlations between fundamental profiles of cortical organisation (incl gene expression components and neurotransmitter receptor densities) and regions of the cortex associated with general cognitive functioning. Poster 54.
Ever wondered what distinct information is really provided by different graph-theory metrics in the brain's structural connectome?

Some of the LBC1921s have #brain imaging data at age ~92 years, which is very rare, especially with their #cognitive data at age 11.
Here's a paper which brought both LBC cohorts together to look at brain and cognitive #ageing:
