DISTANT VOICES is playing Milwaukee tonight & tomorrow at UWM Union Cinema (no tix online, just come in person) and in Philly tomorrow at Asian Arts Initiative (pay what you want). I’ll be at Philly to give the intro; that screening is co-presented with @CollabJapanFilm ✨
Los Angeles: I’m presenting the North American premiere of Takashi Ito’s new feature film DISTANT VOICES tomorrow at WHAMMY. Get tix while you can, they’re running low. Ito has been trying to get this film shown in the US for the past year and I’m happy it’s finally happening.

Last chance to get your infectious dose of Yōji Kuri on CCJ! What Do You Think? depicts the modern mind — flitting between media (found footage, animation, stop motion) as quickly as topics (sex, news, war). Huge thanks to @matsu_fusako and @yojikuri. collabjapan.org/events/2025/…

Sawako Gōda was an artist interviewed by Yōji Kuri in 1973, whose artworks had a distinctly Gothic sensibility — from painted eggs to sculptures made from horse bone. Enjoy this fascinating insight into Gōda’s work and life, now on CCJ! 🦋 @matsu_fusako collabjapan.org/events/2025/…
