As we sprint to Election Day, we're hosting town halls throughout the suburbs. Frustrated with both political parties? Considering maybe even not voting? There's a mainstream Independent you can vote FOR this election, and I'd love to meet you! Unlike the two major party candidates’ events, these town halls are open to the general public. And, unlike my opponents, I don’t need a favorable moderator or pre-screened questions. Carolyn and I will be taking questions directly from the audience and sharing our common sense plans to lower costs for working families and raise everyone’s wages. Join us at a location near you!

No matter who you vote for, go vote! Only one week left. Of course, Carolyn and I hope you'll vote for us. You have an opportunity this election to send a message that you want better in the future: better candidates, better politics, better governing. That's what you're saying when you vote for us. We all wish the major parties gave us candidates for Illinois Governor to vote for. But they didn't. Don't let that stop you from voting. Go vote Independent for Governor, then stick around and vote for candidates in other races that have proven to be independent leaders.

The head of HR for DCFS illegally gave out $1.4 million in extra pay to favored employees, including $52k to herself. It is likely more. Records were only reviewed going back to 2020, and the employee admitted this practice has existed long before she was hired. Employees got 5% to 25% of their salaries for work that wasn't outside the scope of their regular duties. Some for years. And it wasn't approved by CMS or recorded. The kicker? The investigation concluded in May, and we're just now hearing about it nearly six months later because of deficiencies in our ethics oversight system. Enough of this. We need to fix DCFS. We need to overhaul our ethics oversight. We have plans to do both (and we're the only ones talking about either topic).

I love the words I hear from people after our events: energy, passion, hope. After today's discussion, one woman is putting up hand-written signs throughout her neighborhood with our signs. We can get Illinois headed in the right direction. I believe in our state's bright future. – at West Dundee, IL

The average Illinois family pays nearly a quarter million dollars in property taxes in their lifetime. This is the highest in the Midwest...and the highest in the country, outside of the Northeast. The cost of living is too expensive in Illinois, and at the top of the list is property taxes. Yet instead of solving the problem, JB Pritzker just points fingers. We have a plan to lower property taxes in Illinois. In fact, we're the only campaign with a plan. Vote Independent for Governor and let's finally solve a problem the politicians have been talking about for decades.

While the other campaigns are still just rallying with supporters, we're out meeting with undecided voters in the final week of the campaign. We have three more stops on our town hall tour, including tonight in Kane County. Come out and let's talk about how we make your life more affordable in Illinois and get this state growing again.

The long-term part is key. This campaign is just the beginning of a much larger and overdue movement. Join us!
A vote for me is more than just a vote for Governor. It's part of a long-term strategy to fix our broken politics. If the two major parties realize the threat posed by the Independent movement and come back to the mainstream, problem solved. If they don't, well, 1-2% of Americans leave the two-party system and become Independent every year. We'll continue to grow until the parties become obsolete. Either way, the middle finally gets represented. Candidates and politicians have to compete for our support again. And we bring common sense back to our politics and government. So send a message this election. Go vote Independent for Illinois Governor. You have until November 3rd.

I was on @MyStateline Friday, and the very first question: "Why should Illinois voters choose you over the two candidates with established party infrastructure and some governing experience?" Hear my answer to that plus common sense plans to lower costs for working families including property taxes, what I agree with Pritzker and Bailey on, how we get Illinois growing again to stop people from wanting to leave, ensuring the suburbs and downstate are represented in state government, how an Independent could govern, and why we need to fix DCFS.

Sane voices on left and right (e.g. @StuLoren) know that economic growth fixes numerous long-term problems but that IL and Chicago are producing less than needed, primarily due to broken politics. The potential is there, it is poor policy choices and perception that holds us back
Illinois isn't growing. Springfield doesn't care, and JB Pritzker only makes it look like he cares. Pritzker has some convinced that he's good on economic development because of his state-funded photo ops and ribbon cuttings, but those can't mask how his tax hikes and regulations are driving employers away. Illinois is 46th in GDP growth since Pritzker took office. Meanwhile, the message of economic growth isn't even heard in Springfield, because "if you're not at the table, you're on the menu." That's why so many business owners and leaders from throughout Illinois are supporting our campaign and helping us build an Independent majority. They're tired of being ignored...until it's time to balance the budget and Springfield wants more money. They're tired of having no voice...while we watch jobs and opportunity leave our state. It's time to restart our engine, make Illinois open for business, and get this state growing again. I discuss with my campaign chairman, @LouSandoval_10, on this week's Hope for Illinois podcast.

Pennsylvania is acting quickly to protect people's privacy, reigning in ALPR (i.e. Flock) misuse. Illinois? Crickets. JB Pritzker and Springfield have failed to put in place statewide guardrails for ALPR technology. If Illinois doesn't act soon to protect people's privacy, public opposition will grow so intense that this valuable law enforcement tool will be lost altogether. That's why we're pushing comprehensive privacy protections. With those in place, ALPR technology can continue to help find missing children during Amber Alerts, locate human trafficking victims, identify violent offenders, and recover stolen vehicles.
