A lot of Trump-voters in replies saying "now do knife killings". 16 people stabbed to death in Ireland in 2025, relative to 1,562 stabbed to death in USA in 2023 i.e. last year with full breakdown. Knife killings per 1 million population: USA: 4.6 (2023) Ireland: 2.9 (2025)
🇮🇪 Ireland: No gun killings in the country for first time in nearly 60 years.

Fox News Journalist thinks Bondi Beach, Australia is in England after the recent terrorist attacks. However @IngrahamAngle whilst we are here. The average time for an active shooting to be stopped in the United States is 7-15 minutes. Bondi Beach was 11 minutes. The last terrorist attack with an active shooting in Manchester England lasted 3 minutes before armed police neutralized them. This is due to our armed police focusing on shooting criminals with guns rather than shooting motorists for traffic violations or random black people. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.

Horrific news emerging from Sydney. A murderous attack on its Jewish community as they meet to celebrate Hanukkah Antisemitism is never acceptable in any form - this is unbridled hate at its absolute worst. Please hold the Jewish community in your thoughts and in your hearts.

Can’t believe the current FIFA Peace Prize holder is talking like this
Trump on the President of Colombia: He better wise up or he will be next. I hope he is listening, he will be next.

Appeasing the Far Right by pleasing the Far Right never makes sense, but it now appears to be an approach favoured by Ireland whose foreign policy seems to be set by Dept of Justice: Starmer urges Europe’s leaders to curb ECHR to halt rise of far right theguardian.com/law/2025/dec…

Elon Musk, a South African immigrant born in Africa who votes in Texas, is annoyed that Somali immigrants born in Africa get to vote in Minnesota. There's only one thing he doesn't have in common with his fellow African immigrants in Minnesota.

Irish government speaking out of both sides of its mouth on the ECHR. This is what the Tánaiste had to say in Oxford in September. Today the Minister for Justice aligned Ireland with a group of states seeking to diminish rights protections under the ECHR. Shameless duplicity.

I see some people wondering on here what happened to @editorialz (Edward White) who often posted racist, misogynistic and hate-filled content. He won't be posting for a while because today he was jailed for sexually assaulting a 9-year old girl. offalyexpress.ie/news/home/1…

Proud to stand with @labour colleagues and LGBTQ+ activists ahead of our motion on trans healthcare this morning. Ireland consistently ranks bottom of the pile of EU Member States on standards in trans healthcare. We can and must do better for our trans community. @labourlgbtq

I addressed the Irish Oireachtas. It is a great honor for me to stand here today – in a country that understands the price of freedom better than many in Europe, better than many in the world, and that shares our belief that every voice counts, every nation matters. Please remember, your voice matters – from Ireland’s vote at the United Nations, to the words in your media. From your thoughts here in Dublin, to every home in the global Irish community around the world. That’s millions of people who can influence hundreds of millions more. When the most powerful apply pressure, the global community helps guide that pressure in the right direction. The aggressor must be held accountable for what was done. Please, take an active role in making the Tribunal for this aggression a reality. Not just joining, but pushing, working, insisting that justice must begin with accountability. Please, continue to advocate for every form of sanctions against Russia. And it is time for Russian assets to serve the cause of peace – to help defend and rebuild Ukraine. This is a long-overdue decision, and it must be implemented. And please – call on everyone in the world to help return all the children abducted by Russia, and all the prisoners still held in Russian jails and camps – many of whom have been there not just since 2022, but since 2014, when Russia launched its hybrid war against us and occupied Crimea. This has gone on far too long to simply close our eyes and turn the page on Russia. Without a just peace, hatred will not fade – it will continue to smolder and provoke new violence. History has seen this before. And this time, it must be different. We need real peace. Help us achieve it. And never lose your faith in Ukraine.

I come from what Michael here would call a “broken home”. I can assure you I’m much happier that my abusive parent left than my parents having a fully intact marriage. People like this valuing marriage over all else, including safety of children, is why they lost in 1995 and 2015
I’m, thankfully, a child of an intact family - can’t think of a single friend from a broken home who is happy about it, yet these ads ignore the victims of divorce.

Irfan is one of the nicest kids known in Tuam; he is extremely smart and really interested in science. It is absolutely horrendous to see him attacked like this. When his parents approached Gardai a few weeks ago following this attack, they didn't want to get involved. His parents had to approach a local county councillor to intervene and ask the Gardaí to follow up.
A Muslim schoolboy named Irfan Uddin Gazi was brutally assaulted by teenage boys on October 16th at St Jarlath’s Collage in Tuam, Count Galway, Ireland. Police are investigating the incident as a potential hate crime and the school has suspended the students involved.
