Of course @HoustonTX needs great people in the police department, but ignoring libraries, bike lanes, parks, housing, health, etc. makes no sense #JusticeMatters #Trees4Resilience #bicycle #HousingCrisis @ColumbiaTap
I'm old enough to realize the mayor telling us that the city is broke and that's why our housing dept has to scramble to find funding. And our libraries. And our dept of neighborhoods. And...every dept except for police. mailchi.mp/houstontx/mayor-w…

Let’s hear it for Michael Lee, Ed Pettitt, Joseph Johnson, Tsepo Nkhabu, Boran Abakay, Frankie Erckman, and the legendary Dr. Veon McReynolds, who broke out the wheelbarrows, rakes, and chainsaws to clear Beryl-felled branches and debris from the Columbia Tap Trail.👏👏👏

If you're an actual Houston resident that wants better mobility options, join us tomorrow morning (10am) at the Rado MKT to discuss the direction of transit in our city. As a bonus, we start every Friday with a community walk, from Law Harrington (8:45am) & Cuney Homes (9am).

One of the best ways to improve the Columbia Tap Trail is by learning lessons from our sister rail-trails across the city. Today, our intrepid team completed its tree canopy survey of the Harrisburg Trail in Second Ward, and begun work on a light survey.

In the coming days, we will begin similar surveys of the MKT Trail. This information will complement the data from our recent tree and lighting survey of the Columbia Tap Trail, and provide a comprehensive & comparative look at the current conditions of three rail-trails.

👏👏👏 to Mr. Lee! Your imagination and dedication are both evidenced by your work at the Texas AIDS Memorial Garden, and the Columbia Tap Trail is lucky to have you as a neighbor. 💚💚
The Texas AIDS Memorial Garden in Houston began as a personal testament to love and loss. Started in 1986 by architect Michael Lee, the living tribute to those lost to AIDS has always faced challenges and neglect, but today there are reasons for hope. outsmartmagazine.com/2023/11…

Let make @ColumbiaTap in #Houston #thirdward a model for the future. #Solarshade for #microgrid and #coolcities.
In South Korea, they've covered this protected bike lane with solar panels - cyclists are protected from the sun, isolated from traffic, and it produces clean energy. We have so many solutions. Implement them. #ActOnClimate #Climate #energy #renewables #GreenNewDeal
