sometimes twitter is ahead and sometimes it lags apartment building for sale in DC (inside blue) and surrounding counties in Virginia and Maryland
Every year, thousands of DC residents lose their homes over unpaid rent. Most owe less than $5,000. Going to court is stressful for tenants, expensive for landlords, and slows down the system. We need a better way to resolve rent issues. 🧵⬇️

now do real estate 😭
Some guy buying the SP500 every month, grilling burgers in his backyard right now, and doing 0 research, will outperform a shocking number of people who spend 8 hours a day analyzing the stock market.

For better or for worse there will be a national digital id. It will be voted in based on fear and anxiety.
Parents should know - Scammers go after teens BIG TIME now too. My daughter (now in her 20’s) got an E-check sent to her a few yrs ago as an “advance” to promote a product on her Instagram page. She was excited. Deposited it. But then they needed her to send them some back. That’s when she got scared and told her mom and me what was going on. We called bank. Bank said it was a fraudulent check and they see more and more people in their late teens getting scammed by this type of stuff now. Recently my daughter’s friend joined a Facebook group of “Atlanta moms looking for babysitters”. Legit large group. A lady in the group set up a babysitting with her. First babysitting gig was going to be at the kids’ birthday party. But the “mom” was out of the country and needed my daughter’s friend (who is 18 and naive) to buy some party gifts and presents. Sent my daughter’s friend an electronic check. She deposits it and then they also needed her to go buy some gift cards with that money for the party. They needed “verification” that the gift cards were purchased and asked for a photo of the cards. The little girl obliges the request (again, teens are naive and most don’t know about these scams like we adults do), sends a photo of gift cards, e-check is fraudulent check, girl gets parents involved, gift cards balances wiped out (prob within 2 minutes of her sending a photo of them a couple of days prior). Talk to your teens about e-check scams as soon as you can. The scammers aren’t just targeting adults. In fact, the biggest markets for them I would guess are the elderly and now teenagers.

boomers need a good pr campaign
I have been thinking something similar about how goodness begins with sensitivity. You will observe in the worst people the general lack of emotional sensitivity. They are bulls in the China shop, harming people and worse, less out of malice and more out of insensitivity.

buildings and home can nurturing in additive and negative ways. builders and developers, sure you can make a good looking space. can you make it healthful? not just a good way to build, am convinced it can be a profitable differentiator.
Traditional clay plastered wall is made by mixing microbial rich field clay and chopped rice straw which is then fermented, dissolving part of the straw lignin. The result is strong, adhesive, flexible, anti-microbial, inoculated (with Bacillis subtilis), hygroscopic, fungicidal.

What CS Lewis intended as a reducto ad absurdum, showing hunger misdirected from its proper end, is increasingly the way people interact with food (recipe videos you’ll never cook, watching people eat at restaurants you’ll never go to, and the below) nytimes.com/2026/09/11/world…

It’s good to have a place like this in the neighborhood. Have a pitcher with a friend. Bring my wife and son for burgers. Occasionally a late night.

This doesn't happen at Costco. Costco will just revoke your membership. Target should do the same - you can be a jerk once, then you can never go to Target again.

some Americans spend less than 10%, MF'er my philanthropy is to the vignerons, bakers, farmers, fishers and ranchers who give fucks.
In the 60s and 70s Americans spent around 13-17% of income on food. Today they spend less than 10%.

"In total, the U.S. government controls some 300 million square feet of office space nationally through ownership and leases. Congress in 2024 passed the USE IT Act, requiring agencies to measure how much space they use and sell or consolidate buildings if they use less than 60%. The first report under the act found that only 28% of building space was in use across 22 federal agencies from January to March this year. At present, no government agency comes close to meeting the 60% threshold, which points to potentially big changes ahead."

Travel to experience this. Learn where you want to be on the continuum. The contrast between a Morrocan and a Dutch perspective is stark.
If a system cannot tell the difference between effort and improvement, it will eventually reward theater.

love this guy.
In 2023 I was contacted by a frightened-sounding anonymous caller who identified herself as a pharma insider and who spent 90 minutes on the phone explaining that a new pandemic was being prepared and would be launched in "a couple of years," possibly before an election. She did not know the specific pathogen involved but said it would have a high mortality rate and be spread through human contact, though it was not known in the past to spread easily through human contact. It would cause a terrible panic. She knew all this, she said, by reading various signals available to insiders in the vaccine development world. She said these sort of signals had allowed her to know that Covid was coming years before it did. I asked her why whistleblowers had not alerted us first, "You don't understand this business," she said. "It would be the end of your career. Or worse." I could not verify her claims, of course, though various facts in her presentation did check out, and she called on a randomly generated number. I feared I was being punked and did not know what to do afterwards to pursue the matter.

do projects. do projects with your kids.
I’ve got a theory. When people don’t create music art ideas anything… they start creating problems instead. Unused energy gets weird.
