English culture where less talented players try to ruin talented players careers. Full of envy

What Rice did to Jude in that Madrid tie doesn’t get spoken about enough, outside the free-kick goals Cuz this Jude guy steps onto a pitch and dominates the middle nearly every time, but them two games he couldn’t hang

This is the shit Arsenal have had to deal with for decades. This Arsenal hatred in the media isn’t new, it’s been going on longer than I’ve been alive.

Arsenal's defensive options: Saliba, Mosquera, White, Hincapie, Gabriel, Timber, Konsa, Calafiori, Salmon Manchester United's options: Dalot, Mazraoui, de Ligt, Maguire, Martinez, Dorgu, Yoro, Shaw, Heaven, Amass To make matters worse, United's cost £334.5m. Arsenal? £272m.

Caicedo completed 10 passes in the first half. As a midfielder. In a home game against Spurs. He's closer to Coquelin than to Rice.

That Bruno Fernandes POTY award last season looks worse by the day. Declan Rice was absolutely robbed.

Great stuff. What people think they’re watching with Arsenal and what players/opposition managers/teams say are very different
Harry Kane admitted that Arsenal’s movement had confused Bayern about who they were supposed to press. At times they weren’t sure who needed to step, who needed picking up, and Bayern consequently ended up defending deeper than they wanted. That’s fascinating because I think it shows two sides of exactly the same tactical problem. Good attacking tactics should create indecision for the opposition. Good defensive tactics should reduce indecision for your own players. When Arsenal rotate, drop players, move somebody inside or pull somebody out of a position, the movement itself isn’t necessarily the important bit. The value is what that movement does to the defenders. Do I follow him? Do I stay? Does my teammate take him? Who steps to the ball? What space am I exposing if I go? If Arsenal can create even a second of uncertainty around those decisions, they’ve achieved something. The interesting part is the reverse for Bayern. Klopp said during the game that he still doesn’t completely understand Bayern’s defensive structure. Sometimes it looks man-to-man, sometimes hybrid, sometimes something else. I don’t actually think complexity is necessarily the problem. A defensive structure can look incredibly complicated from the outside while being very simple for the players inside it if they have clear shared references. But Kane’s comments make this more interesting because he is describing the sensation from inside the system. That should be a red flag for Kompany. There will obviously always be moments of uncertainty against elite opposition. Arsenal are trying to create exactly that. But ideally, when a defensive system breaks down, it should be because the opponent executed better than us, not because the players genuinely didn’t know whose responsibility something was. And the timing makes it even more interesting. Bayern were 2–1 ahead, but during the final 15–20 minutes they increasingly ended up deeper, struggled to escape Arsenal’s pressure, and eventually conceded the equalizer in the 82nd minute. Personally, that also says something really positive about Arsenal and Arteta. Whatever changed in the game, Arsenal were still able late on to present Bayern with problems their defensive structure wasn’t comfortably solving. That is excellent attacking football. Not necessarily because you’ve invented some incredibly elaborate positional rotation, but because your positioning and movement have forced the opponent to continually answer questions: Who goes? Who stays? Who takes the next player? What happens to the space I leave? Eventually, if those answers aren’t shared, the defensive line starts making slightly different decisions and the whole team gets pushed somewhere it didn’t want to go. Kane essentially described Bayern becoming stuck deeper than intended. If I were Kompany I'd reflect on that. Because a good out-of-possession framework should give players enough clarity that even when the opposition changes the picture, they have references for how to respond. Not necessarily predetermined answers, but enough shared understanding that they can solve the new problem together. That's something Simeone has always done well. And from Arsenal’s perspective, that’s probably exactly what you want your attacking structure to achieve: Don’t just move defenders, make them defend with doubt.

Bruno getting POTY over Rice last season was a joke, and we’re now seeing Bruno totally fall apart as a player 2 months into a season with European football. There’s levels. That award was a travesty.

Absolutely laughable. You all lauded the guy who literally sandbagged stats last season with no pressure on a game a week. Now they are playing every 3 days, utterly stinking the place out. Wouldn't get into MCFC or AFC midfield and fact he is captain sums up the state of that club. Dissapeared after Martinez comments, and now someone else has got the heat he decides to come out like this, utter coward.

People will watch Arsenal engage in this chaos with Europe’s elite, then watch them come up against a stubborn mid-table side fighting for a point and conclude it is in fact Arsenal who are diluting the entertainment. Shamelessly ignorant

Ultimately Rice is a PL winner and Fernandes never will be, but it’s a damn shame how zealously English football media tried to convince us Fernandes was more deserving of PL POTY for putting up stats as he played once a week, while Rice was actually world class over 60+ games.
Bruno Fernandes winning Prem POTY is a massive stain on this league and country.

Games like tonight prove the point that dull Arsenal games in the PL are entirely down to opposition strategy. No shade. But let’s be honest about it.
