curious that all the ‘local’ politicians who were actively against the SCR active plan because of the disruption to residents and traffic chaos it would cause don’t seem to be actively against the novina and the chaos it causes every year 🤷🏼♂️

Hear hear. Allowing cars to use it as a short cut & park on every inch has devastated our city centre. In person retail is dying & noisy fume-filled streets are not attractive. We must change. We need spaces for people, the kind of spaces we love to find in other cities!

A step in the right direction but it’s time to consider larger scale projects of this kind around the city.
The city center is on its knees and a drastic, innovative and transformative response is required. Give people a reason to live and use the city, business will follow.

Was down there myself, High St was reduced to one lane because of selfish parking and @gardainfo @GardaTraffic just drove past like no laws were being broken #ZeroEnforcement

Today is the last day for submissions on the Wickham St / High St project. Huge potential here to radically improve the area for cyclists, pedestrians & local businesses while providing virtually parallel access for motor traffic.
A win for all concerned -

Very impressed with @LimerickCouncil public consultation on Wickham St / High St cycle lane. It's the best organised #ActiveTravelLimerick one I've been to. A simple thing like having someone meet & greet is a big help. Thanks to all involved. Short🧵on the 4 options 🟡🟢🔵🟣

If anything all the car traffic and illegal parking around the market deter me from going. Its not pleasant as a pedestrian to walk over when cars get priority in all directions around it

Snap - shocking if true, it will hugely benefit them if it does go ahead

The active travel route down Wickham street opens up the Milk Market as a place with lower motorised traffic levels making it a nicer place to be which should increase trader revenues!
Opposing the route is stupid
Another Saturday morning market @TheMilkMarket
Speaking with a trader this morning I’m told that the Market Management are encouraging traders to object to #ActiveTravelLinerick plans for Wickham st to Clare St Scheme.
Surely this can’t be correct?
