>the average male vtuber experience in the world full of evil foids
Since people are getting mad at Mizu about this, I'm going to make a simple guide to interacting with female vtubers:
If a female vtuber sends you a message and is interested in collabing or just interacting, DO NOT RESPOND!!! Don't even type a simple, "Hello."
Check their stream history, online interactions, etc, first. Note the ratio of how many and what kind of interactions with men they have, and what topics they discuss when chatting. If they interact with straight men regularly, or in a majority, they're more than likely safe and you can reply. If they mainly talk about pro-right wing stances, you can reply. If they unironically enjoy a lot of "guy stuff," like guns or male oriented media, you can reply. You should, however, remain professional in your replies. Say nothing that can be misconstrued.
If they hang out primarily with women or LGBT people, and are critical of men, masculinity, or men's entertainment, do not walk away. RUN AWAY. They don't want to collab or be friends. They want their fifteen minutes of fame from being 'victimized' and you're the guy they want to blame in the google doc. Ignore their DM and if they keep asking, block them. They will use anything you say in reply to make fake discord DMs (which is shockingly easy to do) in order to take you down for their short term benefit.
This is unfortunate, but it's the truth. Most female vtubers see male ones as stepping stones or targets to make google docs about so they can get a few more views from people who sympathize with their 'plight.' The number of them who would legitimately want pleasant interactions with you are very low. It's better to assume the worst for your own safety if you're a male vtuber.

If I commission a southeast Asian for 200 dollars I'm technically paying them their monthly salary
The world doesn't revolve around the US, you just want to feel less bad about your pricing
Replying to @unvarnishedvoid
you can want cheap art but when you tell artists to under pay themselves it just sounds like you want to exploit people :/
some people getting the courage to pay themselves more is good.
cheap art isnt going to disappear tho. because new artists will always exist
you are fine
After talking to many dorks and bozos I can safely summarise the Art Pricing discussion with a fitting example to make it easily understandable.
Essentially picture an intern nurse working at a hospital. She's demanding the salary of a neurosurgeon... simply because they both work in the hospital.
That's it. That's basically the whole reasoning.
They demand to be paid their ridiculous prices... because there are professional artists within the ACTUAL industry, with the robust portfolios and histories of working with companies and corporations who earn this much.
They want to get paid the same amount while having none of the skill, experience and industry presence... all the while being Rando Twitter/Tumblr Artists™ who market to normal people and not the actual industries they base their prices on.
That's basically the logic there. Make of that what you will.
So you are fighting the negative perception of artists and their prices by...
... being happy that they are increasing their prices making the reputation even worse?
This is how you lose against the AI. This is how people look away from real people and are delivered there.

"art is a luxury" but apparently these elitist want the smaller artists to raise their prices and tank the market more. They don't seem to understand the words "free market."
That's how it works. Your prices are high, they'll go elsewhere to someone who will do it cheaper.
Comrade Del ☢️ Gasmask Mothman retweeted
"see an artist who sells for less" and all you people do is encouraging artists inflating their prices until there's nothing left for people with low budget
I'm convinced that you do this so you can feel less bad about your prices not for anything else

Normally I’d point out that when someone in an industry says “community” that’s industry speak for “I can kick people I don’t like out for non work related reasons” But this one just straight up says there’s an industry blacklist for artists she doesn’t like. In which I’m sure this is a completely unbiased and not at all politically motivated list of artists.
Seeing aspiring artists attack a well respected and established illustrator is doing so much harm to their careers and they don’t even know.
Being a good artist is half the job.
Being someone people want to work with is the other half.
When those who hire see you tearing down other artists for their prices and then accusing them of AI, we blacklist you. You reveal your red flags.
Art is a community. Tearing down others is not how you get ahead. In life or art.

Any digital artisan-illustrator (like an Artist On Twitter™) that wants you to pay more than $300 for a single image is trying to scam you.
"Art is a luxury" yeah and so does everything else you don't need to live. That doesn't make e.g. $100 toothpicks justifiable.

11,000 people fired
35 studios closed
But hey, you sure showed those fucking chuds right
The gaming industry has already lost 10,977 jobs in 2026, according to the ASGC Games Industry Layoffs Tracker.
That’s more than the entire 2025 total, and the year isn’t even over. The tracker estimates that losses could reach 13,077 by December.
Around 35 studios have also shut down, with 161 studios affected by layoffs.
>BioWare: EA closed the studio and canceled the next Mass Effect, which was still in early development.
>Sucker Punch: Around 24–26 employees were laid off.
>Microsoft is planning around 3,200 job cuts
>Arkane Lyon: Around 217 jobs are at risk.
>Supermassive Games: More than 70 employees were laid off.
>DON’T NOD: Up to 85 jobs could be affected by its restructuring.
For comparison, the industry lost 15,631 jobs in 2024 and 9,197 in 2025. 2026 has already surpassed last year’s numbers

You're either lying or misinformed, if you say $15/hr is below minimum wage.
The federal minimum wage is $7.25.
Replying to @Starboi1x
Hypothetical scenario: an artist takes a commission with the rate of $15 per hour, which is far below minimum wage. Project is gonna take 4 months. They work for 5 hours every weekday(87 days) 15x5=$75 a day. 75x87= $6,525. If anything she’s giving people a deal.
Comrade Del ☢️ Gasmask Mothman retweeted
Who decided that? Art is a form of expression, but selling art is a commercial service! The moment you advertise commissions, you're participating in a competitive marketplace, whether you like it or not!
Customers have budgets, preferences, and alternatives! Get used to it!
Comrade Del ☢️ Gasmask Mothman retweeted
But what if it were a net positive for that artist? Maybe we shouldn't punish artists for applying strategies in a competitive market that can earn them customers so that they may eventually start raising prices, because they have become able to establish themselves?
A friendly reminder to amateur artists who want to succeed: QRTing professionals with “they charge THIS much while I charge 20$ for 2 weeks of work!!!” is NOT a flex you think it is and if you’ll keep such mindset you’ll never be able to get big. It’s okay to have art as a hobby but if you want to make it your career, stop disrespecting professionals AND yourself
“go find someone who fits your budget” okay fuck everyone who can’t just hand out $100 bc they need to eat I guess?
artists can have whatever proces they want but saying something along the lines of “go to another store you broke ass” is really fucking insensitive
Comrade Del ☢️ Gasmask Mothman retweeted
The problem is that other artists don’t follow this either. They’ll see an artist undercharging, demand they raise their prices because it “devalues” art, and the guy working 2 jobs who went to this artist wants to occasionally get art is now priced out and told fuck you.
